Marc, its all the symptoms of a dogy ECU#2.  no need for a car sparky, you need to replace the black box above the fuse box in the drivers footwell.  It is about 5 inches long and has 3 main connectors fitting in to it.

If I am right the windows work when the seet belt light flashes and beeps, yeh?

Cheers

Hey Craig

That\'s the one alright. There are a few of us who have been suffering from that little problem recently!

Do you know if these boxes are readily available? How much, and where from would also be a great help.

Can they be repaired?  Cracked open maybe and something replaced??

the part can normally be obtained by breakers, Jimmes , RX motors and the rest.  Alternatively look for anyone parting a 3rd gen to see if they still have it and is willing to part with it.

Cost, best ask the breakers to see what they think.

I was not brave enough and do not have the brains to break it up and look to see if it could be repaired, it will all depend if you have electronic skills and testing equipment.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Craig, you\'re a star.

I\'ll speak to RX about it when I pick up my car.  A few of us will be glad to hear that there\'s an easy solution to this rather irritating problem!!

Just ordered an ECU#2 from Tim at RX Motors. Cost was staggering - £25.
I just hope this solves my problem. I have checked all the earthing points I can find and there doesn\'t seem to be anything untoward.

Title: flashin seatbelt warning and elec windows
Post by: petemillis on November 15, 2004, 06:36:51 PM
Oxo, I\'ve just received the box from RX Motors, but not sure if it\'s the right one and don\'t have the car with me to test it on. It seems to have more than 3 sockets on it, and it is marked "F100" and "CPU". It has a buzzer in it and seems to be a flasher unit of some sort that does indicators and haz warning lights. Mind you, the seatbelt warning flashes and beeps, and the windows flash up and down so this could be the right unit.
Can you remember any of the markings that were on it?
I don\'t want to take it to the bloke, swap it and it not be the right thing.
Cheers
Pete

Hi MArc. Just waitring for Oxo to confirm it\'s the right bit. I\'m pretty certain it is but I don\'t want to go and fit it for the guy then find I maybe should have changed something else. What makes me pretty certain it\'s the right box is tghe fact it\'s got a bleeper in it!

I should know bt Friday if problem solved. Oxo has confirmed that the bit I\'ve got is the same as what he replaced to solve the problem.
I\'m now just waiting for the guy who\'s now got the Rex to let me know when I can pop over to sort it out. Probably be this evening or Friday evening. the moment I get back in I\'ll let you know if it did the job.

F100 appears to be the same thing as ecu2

Yep, ECU #2 is the F100. Still haven\'t done the one I need to do......

I have just spent 15 minutes swapping the ECU #2 over. The one I removed was the F110 and the one I\'ve put in was the F100. They both look identical and have exactly the same numbers on the boxes so I don\'t know what the difference is.

Anyway - everything works perfectly now. no more continual beeping/flashing seatbelt warning, and no more windows going in time to it. Spot on! Me HAPPY!

...i know it took 15mins Pete, but i reckon it\'ll take me at least double that just to find the damn thing!!!!

..finally got round round to fitting my replacement ecu#2/F110..i now get a continual, constant bleeping for the ecu#2...the one i have in the car is a F110, but the replacement was a F100....should this matter??

Any more advice welcome?? I emailed RE:Worx for advice as i bought the replacement from them, wonder if the second hand was faulty too....

..what fun!!

Marc

I dont think it should matter really.  My duff one was a F100, which RX Motors exchanged for another F100 that also turned out to be knackered!  They then sent me out a 2nd replacement which was a F110 and this cured the problem.  Get RE:Worx to swap you over another box as it sounds like that one is faulty too.  If the next box you try doesn\'t work either, then there may be another issue.

You may be able to try one from a working car, if there\'s someone near to you who wants to help.

I took out an F110 and replaced it with an F100 from RX Motors. The F100 does make a continuous tone but only when the key is in the ignition and the door is open. It sort of says "don\'t forget to take the key out" and I think it may be intentional.

..im sure i tried closing the door, but i can\'t really remember :(  I\'ll try again in the morning if it\'s dry, replacing the F110 with the F100......

cheers Pete.
