Title: Inlet temps?
Post by: Donato on November 02, 2004, 09:06:11 AM
I know that as low as possible is good, but what are the ideal figures i should be looking for?

What temps do you have with what setup?

Cheers

As you have said lower the better. ;)

With the stock twins and IC setup, I was seeing cruise temps of around 27-35c on boost at 10psi it would go up to over 80c. NOT GOOD!!!

If you do a search I posted some figures ages ago.

Hi Dan,

Just wanted to do a comparison really just to see with the different setups, im getting temps around between 16 and 18 open road and 25 - 30 in town with the new setup and was just wanting to see what it was compare to stock and v mounts etc..

Im sitting with a FMIC but inside the engine bay, and non-sequential high flow twins so (John Yorkes old setup)  I have a few plans to reduce the temps even further.

Cheers

Once the samco arrives I will complete the v-mount install. (Due next week)

Then I should be able to get some mapping done, and have some temps for you.

Hi,
All your figures will depend on the ambient temperature, but as a guide i typicaly see 3-4 degrees under ambient during medium cruise. Under load at about 0.85-0.92 bar, inlet temp is normaly about 5-6 degrees above ambient but will be alot closer to ambient at night.
BTW i have a more H-mount setup than V.

Air temps for cruise and around town are pretty much pointless, even the stock intercooler is up to the task.  It\'s under sustained WOT that temps skyrocket as Dan\'s figs highlight, I\'m not going to own up to how high mine got :o .

Assuming you will be at the RR day next weekend and KH the following one; they will provide a good indication as to how effective your cooling is :cool
