ROTORSTOCK 2
I am pleased to announce that due to overwhelming wishes and enthusiasm from Club members to hold this meeting again in 2005 that an agreement has been made with Shakespeare County Raceway and Japanese Performance Magazine that the meeting will expand to a full two day event and will this time not only feature the Drag Strip but also some sort of track events as well.
We will be inviting all the Japanese car clubs to attend this time to make this a one of a kind “Show n Go†event with your Club at the head of it. Over the last few months we have not only had six pages about Rotorstock in Japanese Performance but also an excellent two page article in Redline and this months issue of Fast Car (November) a further two good pages that not only cover Rotorstock but also promote your Club. I look forward to more members playing active roles not only assisting with the actual event but also by finding ways of raising funds via donations or sponsorships to help it become bigger and better as the years progress.
So put please put May 29th & 30th 2005 in your now and help and support this as much as you can, remember no other Japanese car club organizes anything approaching what we all now do event wise
O/K what will be different next year.
1/ We will invite ALL the clubs next year to enter the quickest cars of their marque, so we can\'t get let down by the no show guys that caused us so many problems last time, this way the meeting will take on an Australian Jamboree feel to it but with ourselves and Mazda at the head of it.
2/ I am talking with the promoters of this years JAE to try and get them on board to make this event huge, but they will want a fee.
3/ I feel we need a stand alone RotorStock website built, obviously linked to our\'s, because the feed back tells me that people found it very confusing searching our site for RotorStock.
I am hopeing that with all the I.T. guys we have on board that people will come forward and build a RotorStock site/forum for us, this would be filled with all of R1\'s pictures etc and be a news source for R2.
BTW we do own //www.RotorStock.com
4/ The prices will be the same as the Pod next time and not dearer!
5/ As devised by our members because of problems with R1, MRC will next time handle the timing of the cars.
6/ Face to face meetings will be held between MRC, the track and the Mags so everyone knows what is developing with R2 all the time.
7/ As many of you know there was no annoy system to tell people what was going on and when, that will not happen with R2.
8/ The track has enough room to set up possibly a Drift track and an Autotest area as this will give people who have no wish to go up the strip other things to do.
9/ Concerning No7, l have thought that if MRC were allowed to set up and run the \'other\' track events with our own volunteers we could maybe charge a pound a lap to put some money back into MRC.
10/ In spite of the good people who helped financially with R1 the event was a huge strain on Mazdarotaryclub, so this time we need more help locating funds through not only title sponsors for the event but also ways of putting money back into MRC.
11/ l have already informed Mazda of the event but there is no reason for other clubs not to bring their marque with them.
12/ As pleased as we were that Mazda attended R1 I will try to get more assistance from them for R2 and they will hopfully see R2 as a good opportunity to showcase themselves to the other Japanese marque\'s.
13/ We will need ways of getting this meeting \'buzzing\' around the forums as the event to BE AT for 2005.
14/ We will this time need on site \'event helpers\' from Friday or maybe even Thursday this time.
15/ Please note we need your help to make this the best event of 2005 if possible, remember this is YOUR club that is staging this event and it needs your help.
16/ Don\'t forget that with the AGM coming up l hope that many of you will attend as this will be one of the topics discussed there.
17/ I now welcome not only your thoughts but also your physical input about the above and how to build on what we have already archived with this great club.
Please keep this thread for your RotorStock ideas and comments and note that off thread posts will be removed because we need this thread for constructive help towards making your clubs main event for 2005 a success.
Clive,
This is great news!
I\'ll sort the website stuff (we\'ll need to pay for hosting, and another copy of Forum software). I\'ll email you with details.
Nice one. I\'m willing to help out in any way I can Clive. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Clive,
Ill help out anyway i can as well.
Stu
let me know if you need help with the site and the such like
i may not be the best - but my time is free :)
I think we should have two different classes of the shootout one for tuners/Pros and one for Privateers/Amateurs
you can stick me down for helping out of the event weekend ... 3 days 4 days whatever it turns out to be. As last time, time before the event will be limited due to our club road rally running shortly before RS2
excellent sounds very promising & i\'ll provisionally be game for being there from Thursday & doing more of the helper thing this time round although i may do slightly more driving & less drinking this time round ;)

Hi Clive,
Good hear. I will be providing the Savanna cup again, and one other for a different catagory. May i suggest that with ref to the strip, we have two catagories depending on tyre used. ie drag radial and road tyre, due to the money needed to safely use drag tires.
I will be more than happy to help where i can. I will also endeavour to get more numbers from Europe.

Love to help not getting married this year so should be available;)
If there is a drift circuit we could see if drifworks want to get involved, Lee would know better than me if its the type of thing they would like to do.

They will do pretty much anything thats gets them a place drive, but would obviously need more info on a few things.
From what I saw last time I cant think where it would be run but there was a lot of space I didnt even look at as there wasnt much point leaving the strip/paddock area.
Lee
Count me in to help out as well. Whatever days required.
I’m not any use on the IT front though. L
I read in Banzai this month that Mazda recently organised a track day to show off their range, perhaps they would be prepared to do something similar at RS2?
As many different kinds of track action as possible would be good, perhaps Lee and the driftworks crew would take passengers for a small donation to MRC (split with driftworks if necessary to offset tyre costs.)
I’d suggest that good running times need proven for the other marques so we are sure to have some fast cars there. Shouldn’t be much to ask for.
If one of the photoshop experts here organises some sort of flyer for the event, I’ll print some and put them on every jap car I see. ;)
If possible could you provide proposal dates for the AMG and the holding of rotorstock05???
And of course will help out as i much as i can;)
Thanks
Gurj
OK, just invited the car club that I run. Not having attended RS1 due to hearing about it last minute as I looked for a Rex, I guess it\'s a camp-over effort like JAE ?
Please count me in for any help I can give, I may even become a member of the club... !!!!
Need any promotion of a Northern nature give us a shout.
Mart.
dates for AMG aren\'t available as you mustn\'t buy a mercedes it\'s the law! (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/geno/rofl.gif) if you mean the AGM it\'s a week Sunday as per this thread in members section (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10211)

Ow come on Gurj get that card out and do an on line MRC join up, its for like a third of a tank of Gas in yer FD, for a year.
Besides its bad PR to have a major MRC forum player like you who is NOT a full club member :D :D
p.s. I look forward to seeing you next week :)
This is great news.
i\'ll deffinatly help out this year (no mates wedding getting in the way).
Can help all weekend and preperation days also.
Just a few thoughts of my own......
I think a strip/drift/track event will be superb, trying to get all driving disciplin events in one place will be tricky, but if it works (which i\'m sure it will if you have enough space), then it will be the first show in the country with an all action show n go feel to it.....which would be absolutly superb and will generate great intrest.
Great idea to invite all the car clubs aswell, will be good to see a big variety.
As a way of making some money, how about a nice big trade/vendors area and charge like they do at autojumbles etc (pay this much for this size pitch), could be a great way for some much needed income.
As its a 2 day weekend do, camping will have to be in its own area yea??, and how about some evening entertainment....sound system, beer tent, disco etc?
Will trophies be awarded for just the "go" part of the event, or will there be some for the other "show" sections of the show??
Can deffo help out with judging etc.
Deffinatly get some magazine stands there, will generate massive intrest again if car club members know that the mags are thier with the possibilty of them being featured.
Sorry for all the questions and ideas.... i\'m dead excited about this.
My services are available.....ooo err missus:o
My Missus and her mates can promote the event with some tight fitting clothes and a bit of flesh showing if you like ??:D :D :D
Dan!!

Yea shameful i know!!!
Will join asap, thanks:yes
There was me thinking nothing was being done ... DO\'H!!
I\'m avaliable for... well, anything really. Give me stuff to do and I shall do it. I can organise the Drift side of things, and have sensible convesations about safety and event logistics (been and done, tee-shirt etc). No doubt I\'ll be there in the "REPU(ooo)" again with a load of diffs and g/boxes for Brian:rollin Bless RX Motors never ending supply of spares!

Thanks Dan and all you other Guys who have replied.
I would visualise that as with R1 there will be awards for the show and the strip and then provideing we get other stuff off the ground we will keep those as \'fun\' events across the two days.
I\'m up for timing software. I reckon a couple of dry runs with days at the pod recording the times to rule out glitches would be needed...
Any comers early next year?

Thanks Matt, l will tell the track we have a good man who has come forward to run the drift side of things :D

Cheers OJ, it may be an idea to do this at Shakespear though as a couple of planning trips will probably be needed, so whilst there we may as well do \'dry runs\'
I already have the track in agreement about MRC handleing that side of things, so we avoid last years mess and present the fastest qualyfiers in the correct order for the Showdown.

Thanks for coming forward with the first Cup for R2 John,
Unless someone can come up with a real easy way of knowing who has what tyre on and keep track of the differing times this would sadly be real hard to do.
BTW, next time we will have a proper award ceremony and with the exception of your self MRC will want all awards (trophy\'s and cheques ) being presented sent to the club address one month before the event, at the latest. This is because at R1 some company\'s either did not present promised trophy\'s or moneys.

On the day could you not use some sort of computer programme on the laptop and when you register you must inform as to whether you are a tuner or private and tyre choice...? Im no computer expert but im sure someone on her could do that easily enough...???
Excel spread sheet anyone?

Yeah no worries Clive, It will be pretty easy... the marshal who inspects the cars for safety will know if they are running drag radials. When he marks the car with it`s number, the preceeding letter will show what tyre is being used.
eg: A... - FF
B... - FR
C... - 4WD
R... - Drag radial
The other trophy i will provide is for the quickest quarter using a Trust/Greddy series turbocharger.

shhhessshhh amatuer !!
MS Access DB with full reporting facilities ( and nice graphs )
Stu
( Access Programmer )
I\'m in the process of getting the //www.rotorstock.com domain and forum sorted - should be going in the next week or so.
Anyone keen to put some graphics together for a front page etc.?
It will be a totally seperate Forum to this one, it will require seperate log ons etc..
I am going to look at moving the existing threads in the Rotorstock section here to the new forum (bit fiddly).
We will also need moderators, and I\'ll create a section for the "helpers" of the actual event itself to get involved, throw ideas around etc.
C# in a .net workframe.
Recording Vehicle and drivier information.
The full vehicle and driver info can be stored into an object (including pic), and saved to an xml document.
Classes of Vehicle
Can be created, and vehicles assigned to only one class.
Run times
The vehicles can have multiple runs (including who against, lane used, time run, speed and duration + comments) all stored against their profiles.
organiser feedback info
1 screen can be used to display the current fast runners, a vehicles run history, facts about the vehicle, who they\'ve run against, and various other stats as required
Driver feedback
A (wireless?) link to the pits where a seperate PC is able to display the current driver rankings and times. This will also display the knockout structure, and details of the different vehicle/driver combo\'s
I\'ll have a go at some graphics using the old Photoshop thang Glenn. Also happy to be a moderator on Rotorstock forum.
Also I will make myself available for the event and day or so prior to assist in any way possible. I\'m looking at ways of getting the word out to the world in terms of publicity too.

Sounds like a top idea OJ - let me know if you need a hand with techy bits and bobs - code to hardware :) Wireless would be great but tricky for the distances needed and very heavy on power if we\'re using bateries...
Iain
I will be there in our white FD. hopefully one of the \'Guest star invited\' cars this time eh Clive :D LOL
Last years event was good - I expect this one will be even BETTER!!!
Ant.
Iain - I started dummying up a Delphi trial to see how simple it\'d be... Seems to work on a basic level, but need to spend more time playing.
I\'ve the wireless setup at home with a desktop and laptop, so have been doing some basic tests to see how simple it\'d be, and it seems to work so far...
But you\'re right about the distances involved - tis the one bummer. ((wireless would be SOOO cool! *grin*))
What developer skills you got?? I\'m mainly Delphi, but am trying to do the C# thing (which is why I wanna do this in C# - for the practice) Networking I\'m not so hot at - can\'t get my laptop and desktop any faster than 11Mbps...
Happy to help/moderate/helper it on other site too if needed...
Hey wots wrong with sdpreadsheets i luv em (OK i exaggerate occasionally :p) & i can even set up a formula to work out how thirsty my car is :rollin lol
QuoteAny comers early next year?
whats teh question OJ happy to try helping, testing *coughdestroyingcough* any thing/systems or otherwise either early in year or early week upto R2 i\'ve already looked at booking the week off so i can ferry up enough beer to last the weekend ;)

Excellant news, Please, Please, Please, could we have some sort of sighnposting this year, I know those that went last year will find Shakespear easily enough, but some of the new ones might struggle like I, and many others did last year.
i\'ll be happy to post numerous directions etc to shakespear & convoys should be good stuff signopoosts wood be good also i\'ll try & look into it but i guess the legal thing may have implications on this but having been to a few cr4p events recently (not jap related) which no-one knew where they were going i can empathise with the logistical getting it sorted early thing, optimax garages will also be locked & loaded ;) lol
