Well, I am happy to report my radiator sourcing problems are solved (for any of you lot who knew about them that is!)
I have been running with a leaky rad for about a month now and it has been getting worse so now the car is not in use. (I currently have a Smart with a certain retail outlet\'s logos all over it, as I am involved in a marketing promotion :rollin !) So I really needed to find a rad before the Smart goes back. And I have, collecting on Sunday! Hoorah!
So Sunday, fit rad - I suspect lots of shouting
also if I haven\'t set fire to the car in frustration, I also intend on painting the callipers, sway bars, and most visable suspension parts green (sorry Grinder m8, but the purple that Hammerite do is way to dark to be noticeable!)
In short, Sunday is going to be either very good or very frustrating!
Swapping rad in my TII was a piece of cake Mark, loads easier than on the FD I would say. You should be fine :)
i like GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN ! :)
the rad swap isnt that bad actaully - you can do it all from the top of the engine - no need to work underneath it
take is slow and its fine
took me about 5 - 6 hrs in all - but i reckon that 2-3 hours of that was de-greasing the engine bay - pretty pointless as you cant see it now :(
just make sure you dont damage the paint with the new/old rad !
after doing mine - i took it for a run and the buzzer came on for low water - so keep a good eye on it for a while
i also partially flushed the engine with clean water - shoved the hose pipe into the 2 pipes and squirted away
let us know how you get on
