Title: thought it was about time i said hi...
Post by: Den on October 29, 2004, 10:16:35 AM
Hi all, i\'ve had my t2 for almost 2 years now but must admit i\'ve been a bit of a traitor. I\'ve spent alot of time at rx7club.com and only dropped in here ocassionally. At the moment its off the road as money is a bit tight which sucks as its working great. This is what i\'ve done so far :

3\'\' dp
3\'\' mp
2 straight through back boxes
mbc (usually set to 10 psi)
greddy fcd
apexi safc
front and rear strut braces
blitz tt
blitz dd bov
blitz filter
cold fusion wet nitrous system
10mm magnecor ignition leads
ported wastegate
aftermarket boost, coolant temp and voltage gauge

I think thats all of the bolt on\'s i\'ve got, i\'ve also removed most of the emmisions and done quite a bit to the interior. The rear seats have been removed and repaced with the storage bin frames and a place made for the nitrous bottle. Ive recovered the centre console and built in the extra gauges, safc, cd player and equalizer. I\'m hoping to get the car back on the road for a month within the next few weeks before it all gets taken apart.  I\'m planning on a full rebuild inc porting, turbo upgrade and respray. The only thing im leaving alone on the car will be the interior, everything else (contents of engine bay, gearbox, diff, driveshafts, trim, lights etc) will be comming off. I want it down to the shell for the respray and everything that goes back on will be powder coated. Well thats about it for now, cheers for taking the time to read this - here\'s a few pics.

:)  Looks good Den!  How long is it going to be off the rd for the respray then?  And how much is it gonna cost ya?! (Got a respray coming up myself)

Cheers brett, its gonna be down for a couple of months at least. As for a price for the respray im not too sure yet, i plan on doing all the prep work myself so that should get the cost down quite a bit. I\'ll be going around getting quotes when i get it insured again in a couple of weeks, i\'ll let you know what sort of estimates i get.

Hi Den,
Welcome to the club,
Don\'t think you are being a traitor coming to our club, the whole point of MRC is that it is ok to be a member of other clubs too.
I am a member of more than one club.
Car looks very nice BTW.
Kind regards
Carl

Im assuming your going for a respray in a different colour then, \'cos the red still looks very good from the pictures...?

Thanks carl - i didn\'t mean traitor like that though, i meant because i\'ve spent next to time here at the uk club :). Brett the camera is very kind to my car :)  alot of the laquer is peeling off and there\'s a few rust spots around the sunroof and arches. It\'ll be the same colour i just want to get it sorted before it gets to bad.

Hi Den - sweet car. Looks like you really have put in some hours.

Really pleased to see your post as it means another FC in the north-east!! I live in Cramlington in Northumberland and currently have a T11 cab. I think have only ever seen two FCs in the last couple of years up here and none were as nice as yours so it couldn\'t have been you.

Do you do all the work yourself or have you found a rotary friendly garage in Newcastle? Also, do you get your parts via the net or do you use somewhere local? So far I have been able to find neither around here.

When you get back on the road let me know if you plan to attend any meets - it would be good to see another local car up close.

Regards
Stuart

Cheers again guys :) I have no excuses Brian, just better late than never i guess!  A v8 though  not a chance, i couldn\'t sleep at night if i\'d done such a thing !  I think i might have seen yours around once or twice stuart, is it red ? As far as i know there are no rotary friendly garages in the north east, i\'ve always done all the work myself. I get most parts from the net (corksport, ebay, rx7store) but i have had some from demon tweaks aswell.

I\'ll deffinatley give you a shout as soon as i get it insured again, its good to know theres another enthusiast in this neck of the woods.

Thanks yet again guys, you\'s are too kind :)  Got it back on the road last week and what can i say.... I\'d nearly forgot how much i love these cars. I could never remember it being this loud, i\'m very suprised i havn\'t been stopped yet - apparently it can be heard from miles away :D It isn\'t all going according to plan though, the oil pressure is playing up big time. Its had a bit of problem in that area for a while but not as bad as its getting now, its got a perfect 30 psi at idle and close to 60 when cruising but the more i put my foot down the lower the pressure gets. Im nearly sure its the tiny oil ring and spacer between the front cover and end plate not being seated right and letting the oil escape. I\'m gonna price up all the gaskets i\'ll need to remove the front cover and hopefully be able to get it fixed this weekend. It\'ll be the perfect time to tap the waterpump for the efan sensor anyway i suppose:(
