Title: Newbie..hello all !
Post by: Trevrx on October 28, 2004, 07:27:30 PM
Hooray, at last I can post (thanks for your help Glenn)!

I got my Rx on saturday , a type R2 from a guy on here - user name Heland if anyone knows him?    I love the car but havn\'t been able to use it properly yet as it hasnt stopped raining :(  I\'ve put a pic below.

I\'ve got a couple questions if anyone can help please.
The car was running perfectly up untill today but I\'ll come to that in a minute.  Is it normal to get a pop from the zorst at low revs? Tickover is steady at 800rpm and if I rev it to 1300 it pops occasionally as the revs fall back to 800. Doesnt do it every time tho.
Second thing - a killer squeak from the boot area which only starts at over 40mph,  I\'ve checked it out and everything is secure but still it sqeaks - is it a common problem?
Third thing , that happened today, I\'ve lost all boost on the second turbo:(   After doing a quick search it seems there\'s a maze of vacuum pipes that could be the prob? Any advice on this please!  The car has an Apexi PFC, can I diagnose any problems with that?  Or any recommendations where to take it, im near weston super mare , somerset.
Cheers,

Firstly welcome on board. ;)

OK back to matters in hand.

1, the popping is normally due to running rich.

2, I still have a rattle from the rear hatch. Its a case of getting someone small enough to sit in the rear seats/boot area and going for a drive.

3, Boost issues can be down to any number of things. Check to see if you can see any pipes that have blown off. This is the normal cause.

Cheers Fish / Gurj,  I\'ll give them a call if I cant fix it!
Is it ok to run a bit rich then,  I know lean is bad.
I\'ve got an Apexi PFC , can i adjust it with that myself?  I mean can you tell me how to please lol,  it\'s easy to use -  the hard bit is knowing which bit to adjust.

trev,
welcome
running rich is ok (aslong as its not chucking the fuel in by the bucket load - how strong is your wallet)?
I myself love the popping n banging, neighbours don\'t tho
as for the rear hatch rattle - common prob, i have tried adjusting the catch which lasted for a rew months, i even glued some extra rubber on the boot stops which reduced it a bit but its still there.
Turn the radio up or drop it down a cog - you won\'t even notice it!

YAY!!:D
Boost is now back to normal, I found a vacuum pipe hanging loose in the rats nest!  You were right Fish.
