Well according to the insurance company that is.
My next door neighbour reversed into it at low speed and knackered the :
Front Bumber cover
Header Panel
Front Valance
and Front RH wing.
OUCH!
Hopefully her insurance company will payout the market value and let me keep her, (that is according to the crash repair place that did the assessment) so fingers crossed I will get enough to replace the panels and get a some left over towards a respray!
Does anyone have any of the above on any scrap vehicles or know of the whereabouts of some ?
Any sympathy will be greatly appreciated!
:D
Sorry to hear about that!
try Tim @ RX Motors (//www.rxmotors.co.uk) or Jimmy\'s - sorry haven\'t got number to hand)
Great
RX motors has all in stock at very fair prices.

sounds about right !
i had a 88 egi and that got backed into
a few scratches on the bumper
new bumper was 900 ex vat , un painted and had to be imported from germany
i phoned HIS insurance company and they were looking at about 1300 to fix - so i said
"you give me a cheque for 750 - i keep the car - its not a write off and we call it quits"
cheque arrived a day later
i saved them money and i got a nice back hander so to speak of
try your luck - you never know :)

spoken to the insurance co and they say that if the car is structurally sound then I should get a cheque for the market value for the vehicle.
I figure between £1-1300 if I am lucky.
D-Plate Gen 1 mk11. 113k (rebuilt at 75 I think, no history) All sound except wear and tear really.
Is that a fair figure?
if you get 1300 then its not bad ( or i dont think it is )
when you get it back on the road try for an agreed value policy, mine is insured for £3K agreed value. They didn\'t seem overly suprised by that. on the insurance pay out check out Classic car magazine and take a look at their valuations in the back and point out to them how much your car is worth. Think they were valued at about £1500-£2K for a tidy example
Thanks for the advice.
I will beat the engineer with a copy of Practical classics until he gives me 2k! ;)
To be honest I think it is worth around 17-1800 but I know what tight wads these insurance people can be. They will try to rip me off no doubt
You never know thought the inspector may have a soft spot for Rex\'s
never accept the first offer and always give them a deadline to work too, worked a treat when my boss had his crx nicked.
He gave them a week to get back to him each time otherwise he would ring the next level up. The threat of being shopped to their boss seems to work a treat :)
I think you will find Classic Car magazine has the most favourable valuations :)
the agreed value is a cracking idea - all you need is some photo\'s and usually someone to sign a form
i got the local meet organiser to sign mine and it was accepted by the insurance
they even let me give them digital piccies on a CD ( there were about 50 of them )
and they agreed at 2.5K which i was happy with
you will have to let us know how you get on
thanks
