Driving back from suffolk this evening and all of a sudden the revs went to 3000 and stayed there, so i dipped the clutch and blipped the throttle to see if it could be cured. Unfortunately not. Anyway 30 seconds passed and it died......
Could\'nt get it goin although it was turnin over fine. Got the RAC out who tested to see if there was any spark, nothing from both banks. Been running fine no signs of any problems what so ever.
An idea guys really need some help here.
Cheers Jay....

Nothing from all four plugs? Is car stock, any aftermarket bits/Have you been working on it recently - engine bay, near ecu in footwell?Check EGI 30A fuse in fuse block on side of battery terminal.First place to look anyway.Had any other problems?
Not been workin on it at all.
Lts got blitz fmic, power fc, hks induc, twin trust oil coolers, custom rad and the usual bits. It has been runnin perfectly. does it sound like rebuild time or maybe something a bit cheaper......
39k in total so would be gutted....

Did RAC guy take plugs out,if so did they look ok.Wouldnt hurt to check compression quick just to eliminate that (hopefully). When you cranked engine over did it sound any different than normal?DO NOT turn it over anymore till compression has been checked. If it has no spark then i reckon your ok but best to be sure. Also check crank angle sensors are ok.
Did\'nt get a chance to check plugs as he put his testers on.
Checked the egi fuse and it was fine. Goin to have to find soeone to transport over to dartford now...

Who too - DS Engineering,Shy Auto\'s?
Forgot it did not sound any different when turnin it over....
CHEERS jay...
Steve at D.S engineering that is assuming he can check the compression..
Cheers Jay...
Any more ideas guys?

99% sure its not engine failure but best to be sure.If it is,by turning it over will cause more damage. There is a quick way to check you have got right amount of compressions if you want to do it yourself.
Also check coil connector,4 wire plug spark plug side of engine in loom that runs down behind power steering pump from engine to inner wing.Check all plugs on ecu and earth.
It is unlikely that all 3 coils have failed at once but is possible.Dont forget crank angle sensors,if trigger one has failed you wont have any spark.
Just out of interest would it make any difference that i had just come thru an almighty rain storm, so bad you could not see in front of you...... perhaps something flooded? thanx for your help.

Unlikely but again possible. What sort of induction have you got, is filter mounted real low, go through any major puddles just before? If you have got bad electrical connection somewhere water will cause resistance maybe stopping it from working all together. When its dry problem goes away, could be related yes.
Eliminate mechanical first then you know it must be electrical, thats when it gets time consuming im afraid.
Well got home from work and thought I\'d try to start the car...........and wonder of wonders it started first time. i took it out for a good run ot ran perfectly. Can only assume that water got somewhere it should\'nt have durin that ridiculous storm i drove thru. Well fingers crossed anyway, gonna get it serviced just to make sure..........
Thanks for your help Gary.
