i\'m ordering my gauges this week, going with the autometer sport-comp to match the stock ones. i\'m not too sure of the ranges i\'ll need, can anyone help?
for water temp, i want degrees centrigrade, the only one they do is 50- 115, is this ok?
for oil pressure, my options are 0-100, 0-150 and 0-200 in psi
and for boost, i\'d like it in bar (same as kg/cm2, right?) is the following ok? 60 cm/Hg vac to 2.0 kg/cm2?
i\'ve got a stock fd, 1992
Stock FD 85 to 110 deg C should cover it, boost should be above 0.689 bar so I\'ve been looking for boost guage up to 1.5 bar (gives some room for modification), although I prefer psi, so I\'m looking for one up to 20psi. Oil pressure I want a gauge too but I\'m not sure of the answer to your question on that one.
Cheers.
cheers mart,
anyone know what the difference between mechanical and electrical gauges are? the actual face of the gauge is analogue, but there are two ways to install them- mechanically and electrically.
the electrical ones are cheaper, but which are the more reliable/ accurate?
mechanical gauges are OK but you have to run the liquid into the car to the gauge. I\'ve had an oil pressure gauge pipe leak and i\'d never fit one again.
The usual advantage with the mechanical gauges are that they are usually a little more accurate than a similar priced electrical gauge and they usually have a full sweep scale, rather than the electrical ones which sweep from the bottom (unless you get an expensive stepper motor jobbie)

Yeah, for boost mechanical is OK cos all your gonna vent in the car if you get a leak is compressed air, although I\'ve never known these to leak. Electrical Boost gauges are more expensive.
For oil and water though I think electrical is the only sensible way to go. Let us know how you get on. As usual I have a selection of gauges marked on Ebay, one day I may get a cheap one...!
Mart.
