Title: 2nd Gen Drag racing (qtr mile +0-60mph)
Post by: Brett on October 21, 2004, 09:47:16 AM
Had an interesting discussion on Tuesday about 1/4 mile runs etc.

 The opinion was that its quite hard to get a decent run in because of the dilema;

Do you a) Hold on in 3rd gear and keep going to the limiter?
or b) Change at 6200-6500 rpm?

Would appreciate comments from those in the know, but random speculation is always welcome :D

Also, what sort of times are poeple getting for their 0-60\'s?

I\'m pretty certain the Egi was 8.2 std and the TII was 6.7

With my mods and the stereo I can get a repeatable 6.3-6.5 in my Egi, what are other people achieving?

(Again 0-60 is hampered by the old, \'Do I change up to 3rd?\')
(Personally if its just a 0-60 I\'m timing I\'ll hold on until I reach 60 in 2nd gear.)

 :)

My 0-60 mph time unoffically recorded by my mates stopwatch was 5.3 secs.  obviously with two people in the car and i think it was a flat road :)

And 2nd all the waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy........ to the beep

No, its deafening inside the car.........................

Fastest 0-60 I did was 5.89,  but the clutch is now very fragile, so no more heavy launches until I get my new onew from the US.

Well we do try... hopefully she will be better next year, if i don`t mess up the rebuild. Hows your baby going, Stu?

hummmmm bit of a sticking point that john

not started the car in about 3 months and done no work on her

struggling to find the time to be honest

i have all the plates cut for the inside welding - to put the floor back to the chassis rail - so then JUST need welding in

its probably only a few days work but with winter setting in , and a 1yr old daughter - a few days to work on the car just doesnt happen

if i had a HUGE garage it would be simple , but the car is on the drive - and if i work on it i have to put it back together to move it back up the drive - i could do with a little work shop to strip it and leave it in there - but the pure cost of that is not possible :(

but i miss her every day - and one day she will live and breathe again :)
