Can anybody tell me what the full spec on a late 93 type r2 is and the difference between other rx7s
i have just placed an order for a type r2 and a type r is also up for grabs
Well the main thing would be that it only has 2 seats.
They have softer suspension than the R1 and you may need to source a strut brace. Probably a load more stuff i don\'t know about !
Shaun
thanks for the replies
i have also heard that the r2 has twin oil coolers.
the car has a strut bar and rear roll bar
what kind of power can i expect with the following mods:
single turbo (dont know how big but know it aint massive)
big intercooler with metal hoses
blow off valve
hks air filter
uprated ecu with twin step boost button
full exhaust system
Model differences are always confusing, but I thought the R2 wasnt available until early 95 !!!
Adrian
(PS Probably wrong !!)
i got told that the r2 started late 93???
Found this at http://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html

You could be right !
looks like they did start then :D
any idea of how much power the car will be making with the mods listed above?
You can get 350-360 bhp from stock twin turbo unit with similar mods, so you would expect that if somebody is going to go to the trouble to uprate the turbo you would want 50-100bhp more than stock max.i.e 400bhp+
Hopefully they will have uprated fuel system and clutch also.
Regards
Adrian
WOW...more power than i expected...most likely the fuel system and the clutch would have been changed..
what would happen if they havent been changed? just curious

It\'ll make less power (if tuned correctly) or it\'ll go BOOOOOOM;)

lets hope it dont go boom, otherwise i will have to study Wav\'s rebuild post...:D

at 400bhp+ you\'d get a bad smell from the clutch and revving without wheels turning to match.
Without uprating the fuel system, you wouldn\'t get 400bhp, simple as that. Standard injectors would have maxed out before then.
ive sent a message to the dealer to find out for sure if the clutch and fuel system have been changed, think they most likely would have been otherwise the previous owner would have had an rx that dont go very fast buy revs high...
fingers crossed :rolleyes::D
Brian wrote up a massive thread detailing the model line up of the FD. Have a good look on the site and you should find it. I think it might be in the 3rd gen section as a "sticky".
I have a R2. There is no real differance from the R1 or a few other models. Slightly softer suspension, rear storage bins are about the main two I can think of over the R1.
My car did not come with a strut brace and I know a few more R2 owners are the same, no idea why as I don\'t know of the R2 not coming with a strut brace standard.
Hope some of this helps.
Steve
thanks alot for the reply people. my knowledge of rx7s is slowly building up. i have come from a skyline r32 gtr to an rx7, i will let you know which one i think is better...:D
the dealer has told me that the car has a twin plate clutch and also the ecu has fuel setup that can be changed...so it should be okay
if i wanted to get the car checked out and also find out the power output, does anyone know of any good garages around Nottingham???
