RX-7 vs RX-8 track time comparison
« on: November 21, 2020, 08:53:32 AM »
Hi

I was just wondering, can everyone who had timed their lap times, can put them on this thread that I can do compare them, just for fun.

Would be awesome to do cheet like:
Model, basic mods, track and time.

For example, Jon has timed his cars at Castle Combe. And I know many of you have too

Cheers

Rx7 on twins 320bhp track set up so coilovers, brakes and tyres track bias. 1.18 best traffic free ideal conditions. Consistent 1.19 laps.
I know Liam Crilly and Anthony Weeks have done at least 1.19s consisently in race spec rx8s around Combe.

Maybe 8j fronts with slicks negate the push understeer couldve drop into 1.14s..the back was planted on 9j slicks. Lets see what the Mighty Eunos can do next year. Im setting goal of 1.17s

If its similar to rx7 ill be happy and provides some Sport for jdm cat n mouse me n Clive lol.
Sport for Clive to catch and pass...then let me passed rinse repeat lol. It hasnt got the punch up the straights but its pretty good /better in the corners and corner exit.

Well, thats interesting. I thought that Seven would be much faster at Combe, maybe 3sec atleast

How about other tracks?

Dont forget thats a well sorted very well driven Race or track Rx8 versus a mild tune 7. My 7 pretty much full interior tools etc and older rear suspension design.
At the Jdm days its flying by the normal rx8s. Wayne is a 1.19s boy and thats a well driven track rx8...with a bbk and slicks. Front splitter and rear wing. I think 1.19 is best of the best for an rx8 til you turbo charge it. Where as..looks at Steve Putt..1.08 in an rx7...ls7 engine. 285 slicks aero bgw..etc.
Its horses for courses

I’d agree with you both
Aero has given me 1.5 seconds on a lap and I do try lol .
Just got to chase Jon to 1.17 now , it’s a tough circuit , have only driven it 5 maybe 6 times
I’d say equal spec RX7-RX8 at least 3 seconds

Thats good improvement on aero mods, what have you done?

Its just Rotors and GRP
Rx8 powered Lotus Elan +2,
'54 RX8 Strato Blue.

Front splitter and BG wing
It is quite effective on faster circuits
