I'm very sorry to hear this news about both of you. Fingers crossed Emma's issue can be easily sorted with no long term affects.
A T2 diabetes diagnosis is obviously very bad news. My BIL was diagnosed with T2 about a year ago, but went on the NHS programme he was offered and dramatically changed his diet as a result (very low in carbs) and walked several miles most days. He lost ~3 stone (from 13 to 10) and his doctor says he no longer has diabetes. He reckons he will have to stay with his lifestyle changes to keep T2 at bay, else it will return. But, he says he feels so much better and it's motivated him to stick to his current regime, which he's adjusted to and finds quite easy now. He had to buy a whole new set of clothes too, as nothing fitted him any more, having lost ~4" around his waist!
Best wishes to you both at what must be a very stressful time.
