How about taking that a stage further and a Britax L78 https://www.beaconsandlightbars.co.uk/Britax-L78-series-Rear-LED-Combination-LightPN-L14.11.12.html

So Kev,

took your advice, and purchased!

Thanks for the heads up, they dont list these on eBay

Theres something quite satisfying about getting up at stupid oclock on a saturday.........

....... copious amounts of coffee, Moby on the jukebox, sandpaper, GRP, repairs, dust........

..... rain hammering down.

Gotta go to work today to modify the wider Kirkey seat I got for Emma bum ! its like a throne!

Needs some chopping and TIG welding, cant get it in the car.

All being well the shape of the  lights work with the finished build............if not blame me I don't mind.
I wish I was up early car playing its up early working on the house extension for me so no Rx's for a good few months yet, I've got the Tesla though so that's fulfilling the adrenaline rush requirement for now.
Regards Kevin

Ah there’s no blame Kev.

Me and the FIL looked at all the lights available, cut cardboard templates of the size n shape and those fitted the best.

Next weekend I’m making the wooden buck to mould the buckets for them to sit it in. It’s all systems go.

I ordered them online and the place is about 12 minutes from my house lol

Glad youre enjoying the build Kev .....

Well positive and productive weekend.

Fitting of the last wing today, got a 2mm twist out the mould, the inner wings will cure that.

Trial fitting of the boot lid since the new rears went on...... got a 5mm gap tapering down to 3mm on the sides.

I put that down to 70's build quality build tolerances, being fibreglass and it being a Lotus lol. Its the same on both sides.

Build up with some gel coat n sand back.

Modded the "throne" for the better half.

Was looking back at the build process yesterday, started the wings with the wooden wheels on 21st Feb, so thats a month a corner!

Patience of an idiot more like Kev,

They're not too bad actually, you can buy the Kirkey padding but it's almost as expensive as the seats, but as I've modded them, the standard stuff won't fit.

Looks like bespoke padding as well.

Emma comes with hers built in lol shhhhh

Well!

End of an era....... sorry its been a boring topic and its not working with the rotors, but today is a huge achievement for me and FIL as weve never done this before.

Ive trowelled the gel coat on the last wing, in readiness for tarting it all up and getting it as smooth as i can before it gets filler primer.

Lots of divets to go round the car and fill in but rather use gel coat than body filler at this stage.

Structurally all the wings are sorted, just cosmetic stuff.

Whats next I hear you ask...........

Well I thought I had finished fibreglassing and was moving on to mechanical stuff, but the rear lights turned up today, so Ill be making the buckets for those so they can be frenched into the bodywork.

Ah well, metal work soon !
