Got a weeks worth of tidying up, gel coat, flatting back, reinforcing layer on the inside once the wheel is off. Inner arches after. Oh yeah, that X 4

I miss my welder lol

Back in Blighty, no rotaries as predicted.  :(

Did spend a whole weekend of drinking wheat beer, eating a tonne of pork, sleeping in the day, watching 15 episodes of shooter on Netflix.  Been to Brno so many times now I've done all the sights. I use the trip to recharge the batteries and put on weight.

Two days off work now to catch up on shed time.......

Decisions, decisions.......

Im gonna be changing my mind more than Jon at this rate.

I cant find the Mazda Mandarin Orange colour code anywhere

Yesterday I preferred the far left, today I prefer far right, the middle one looks "muddy"

Welp, the gel goat is on the join of the last rear wing........

Keep fannying about with the gel coat on the first one, rather than cracking on and worrying about the aesthethics when its time for shell prep.

Anyhow, progress is progress.

I used to be in disbelief when some of these custom car builders say they can easily put a 1000 hours of prep in before laying colour down.

I can believe it now, and ive not gone anywhere near filler primer...... jeeez louise

Ok both rears fitted, not gonna worry about flatting down gel coat yet. Just get them on!

Fronts have commenced....... cutting the front off was more tricky with the cockpit walls to contend with.

I can get a decent shot of the complexity of the headers now...... still more welding to do on them when the engine comes out.

And knowing what I do now since joining this forum, i'll definately be coating the headers in Zircotec Ceramic stuff.

I even had Bailey helping me today which is completely unheard of .....so Im posting a pic as living proof coz if I told anyone we knew they wouldnt believe me.!

More progress!

Starting to graft the first wing on with GRP, always looks messy at this stage, but the crappy brackets work well in lining the panel up to the car.

Then I decided to cut out the boot floor comprising of the original spare wheel well and exhaust tunnel, all of which is no good for my application.

This is making way for the new exhaust routing but more importantly, gaining the right angle for the diffuser at the right length to exit the car.

The raduised exit of the diffuser will blend into a rear bumper as well making the whole part look cohesive.

Flat aluminium floor from the front splitter to the rear diffuser looks a simple task.
