Afternoon all,

Im in need of some advice......marry, kill, or bury in the back yard alive.................. joking!

From a servicing, longevity, safety, yadda yadda perspective......

Need to find a location for mounting fuel pump and filter.

Options are 1, inside the car, near the sump and outlet of the fuel tank. Fuel lines run inside the car also.

or 2, in the same location under the car. The original rear seat squab of the previous location provides a void, so pump and filter sit above the scrub line of the car and therefore cannot come into contact with anything. Fuel lines would run inside the transmission tunnel clipped to the box section.

Photos attached for clarity, I can see pros and cons for both, but would appreciate experiences from all walks, either road, track or race car owners.

Cheers in advance.

Roll over valve...if going on track shuts off vent incase of rollover and also shuts off in high g corners to stop fuel going up it and out.

Is this something you can buy, because I planned on using the original spec vent pipe which routes around the underside of the roof, and out the floor of the car

yes mate its just a little shuttle check valve that goes inline with the vent hose.

God forbid you turn it over then fuel will run out vent pipe spilling all over ground around car....then possible catch on fire....very 70s race car  :13: depending on where your vent connection is on your tank hard braking acceleration or corning can force fuel up the line and out  whilst on the move....

https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/fuel-system/tank-breather-valve-and-roll-over-valves   i bought the 2nd 1 in Top Left as had 8mm vent piping.

various prices and fittings.... :)   i had it happen to me at combe i came out of camp and down towards start/finish straight depositing all my fuel over back tyres....luckily a keen eye marshall spotted it god knows how and i was black flagged !

I had to go into Merlin and buy the bits and make trackside mods.... :violent1:

mine: 8mm fuel hose from tank vent hosetail upto top of cage. Roll over valve vent inserted just before top monted vertically a sper destructions. Return down rollbar under bodywork but over axle and ran out the back off the car so vents behind wheels. fitted some 4 years ago no issues since.

Cheers Fella,

As the for the pump and filter location? under floor, over floor wombling free?

Inside the car Ive gotta pull the seats out.

Under the car, I can see anything dripping, but I have a pit I can use.

Just whether its gonna get covered in crap.

Don't really want high pressure fuel leaks inside. I suppose a firewall will be next on the cards.

Under i reckon as shown in photo...may be a little alloy cover over pump n filter to protect from dirt. Run the fuel line up the inside of tunnel. Over top of bell housing into fuel rail

Good decision,

Me and the father in law cooked up the same theory.

The underside of the car will have a full length aluminium diffuser to try and generate some "suck down" at the back as I don't want to ruin the lines of the car with a spoiler.

This potentially will cover the pump and filter.

I suppose the only with Q is, (which I would appreciate your or anyone view is) do I run 8mm bore rubber fuel hose or try and utilise the original metal pipes and re shape to suit.

Maybe im over-thinking stuff again, just thinking, hot - cold temperatures rubber perishing etc.

answers on a postcard, or just reply here lol
