Welp.....amongst all the s**t at work...... god if I hear my name called one more time !!!!

anyway... breathe....im still working on the jam jar.

Had a small break from GRP and started making some wheel arch liners out of ali.

The originals were pre galv steel with a rubber trim around the outside. They are positioned in the front and rear wheel wells to cover up the steel sill members and to gain access by sliding them out the GRP sills into the wheel wells.

I kept the axle line centre on the back  the same as the lotus set up. So now im running RX8 wheels there is little clearance.

Thankfully the rear wheels dont steer and if I set them with a bit of toe in ill get more clearance, Currently with 1/2"...... if I go off in the kitty litter i may get some debris stuck lol

Finished off the undertray too, covered up the fuel filter etc, stop all the crap off the wheels getting near them and some air deflectors to direct any air from around the tyre into the right directons.

On to the business end before we drop the car back on the floor. Its been on ramps since I started making the expanded foam wings many many months aso.

Bought some ducted backing plates from some nice guy on here. Gonna utilise the spent air from the oil coolers and help protect the back end of the coolers from getting debris flung at them.

I have a theory that because the stock oil coolers have a rubber shroud around them, the ambient temp isnt high enough to "warm" the discs from the spent air and the discs will be a higher temp......

It works in my head, if not in real life ill just disconnect the hose lol

So its back on the GRP and mocking it up in mud and junk...... I swear my heart pumps resin around my body.....

Anyway, done for one day, Im off to hopefully by another rotary !  :13: :13:

Jamie your aluminium fabricating skills almost exceed those of your skill in moulding.
Finance dictated it had to go 13 months ago,  after 14 years in an RX8 regretted ever since.

Ah don’t be daft buddy.

I cheat by having the equipment around me it makes life easier, and I use lots and lots of cardboard templates first

Don’t stop posting your work jarno. If you are not happy with the Ali work. You have the power to change it.

I feel bad when you put stuff like that bud. My posts are to hopefully inspire people to get dirty and create something. Certainly not to make them feel crap.

There are soooooo many car builders out there that I dream of having the skills to create something as equally beautiful as they do.

As the father in law stupidly says.... well Jamie, you’re getting better as you improve lol.

So let’s come off the topic of Ali, and go back to grp, cardboard and mud

First pass needs lots more filling and shaping yet to make them a mirror image.

And just keep at it jarno! I equally hope to see this monster fc one day

My work is crap basically cause I dont have tools. Some bad metal scirrors wont do the job...

Fortunatly I have friend(that rallycross dude) near who has skills are tools to do stuff. He has helped me alot especially designing stuff. And more important, how fabricate them easily so they are easy to remove and put on. Like these fmic alu stuff. Now we are planning to do some molds to get some fibreglass parts. He is glass fibre expert him self...

Yes, you project is really an inspiraation. Absolutely amazing thing to follow.

There you go, that’s what makes the world go round. Buddies mucking in together helping out one another.

Group of mates, a common interest. It gets it done. Keep going! Rally cross season over. All guns blazing

Sorry for the stupid mad large pic on the last post..........dunno why it did that

Quick easy night tonight.

guide coat, sand, wax on, wax off (Mr Miaggi style) n gel coat. Lay it up tomorrow, fit Wednesday.

I'm hoping the aluminium turns up and get that cut bent and fitted before the weekend.

So the Rotus is coming down off the ramps this weekend. It went up on 24th Feb to start making the wings. 9 months almost!!!!

My 1 year anniversary on MRC this Sunday lol Id buy the cakes, but id eat them all myself lol
