P0661 code.

Ssv solenoid circuit...

I'm wondering if the main egi relay is faulty and dropping voltage. Its what supplies the solenoid with power

The pcm is not seeing the coil open circuit. Youve tested from the pcm pins resistance...i wondering if coil for soleniod breaking down.
Swa with redundant air pump...move plug and vac line onto air pump 1. That will eliminate coil.

Done all of that already... Checked all the wiring.
I've activated the actuators under vacuum... Everything checked out OK.
My only thought is the power supply to the solenoids is failing

Quite a few things powered off that so youd have multiple codes...
Wondering if coil breaking down with heat?

Maybe. I'll try and source another.

It was just really random.
Was on the M4 for at least 5 mins. Outside lane and out of no where just died for a second, then come back to life with the eml on

Intermitent faults are a pain to find. Id swap coils as suggested. Eliminate that from query.

Had any one got a spare solenoid valve?

Right getting done where with this now.
I swapped the vac lines and plugs over between SAP and SSV and now the hesistation under full accelation has returned.
So I've got one coil which is slow to respond and one which dies under heat.
I'm going to swap the coil at the moment over for the spare I bought and probably buy another spare to replace the VDI solenoid

I was having a chat with Jamie at Coombe about lightened flywheels and I'm still confused by it.
Will a 5 speed lightened flywheel fit 6 speed engine?
And will a 6 speed clutch fit a 5 speed lightened flywheel?
Lastly are rx8 5 & 6 speed prop shafts the same?

Clive has a lightened flywheel and counter weight available which I'll be buying tomorrow :)
Also tracked down a 5 speed box. Are the output shafts on the propshaft the same size on both 5 & 6 speed?
