Please confirm my understanding..
« on: August 28, 2018, 08:04:28 PM »
Hi all,

hopefully these are quick/easy questions to answer, if someone will be so kind..

I have just come to change my brake discs and found there are no securing screws in them (see pic). from Youtube it seems there are not present on most cars. Do I need to buy and fit securing screws?

The reason I am changing them is that I purchased some RX-7 FD Hawk Fast Road pads, but these have been ineffective whilst cold. Has anyone got any experience of these?

I have a temperature spike issue (that I am really hoping is not...). I was monitoring with my FC Commander, but recent sun and heat exposure seems to have cooked my LCD display :'(
I purchased temperature gauge and now want to temporarily rig it up. I think this is the temperature sender for the dash (bottom right). Can anyone confirm? I am assuming I can remove the plug and run a temporary sender feed to the powered gauge..?

My hope is that with pads replaced and gauge in place I can take her for a run. Then I will see if it is bad, or very bad..

Ref disc securing screws. Not needed as when the wheels are bolted up the disc is clamped to the hub...some cars have them some dont usually they cease so get drilled out.
Ref temps.didnt say whether coolant or oil...

Reference the brake pads.

If you have either HPS, HP+ or Street Racer pads you should have good initial bite.  With each one having more initial bite.

(I have sold hundreds of these with no complaints)

Have you followed the beding in procedure listed on the side of the box ?

Also is the car pulling under braking one way or the other, as this could indicate seized pistons which will also give what you describe.

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Boosted.. ahh, yes coolant temps  :-[
Am I close? I can find no pictures and the only thread I have seen stated "located on back iron next to oil pressure sensor on drivers side."

Clive, thanks, no pulling and ummm..I did not read the box.. but have just watched the youtube vid.. I will be putting them back on in the morning and giving this a go  :-[

Its smack bang in the middle between the rear iron trailing plug and the large oil pressure sensor in your photo. Only small.
