Hi all....

As per the title I bought my first RX7 about a month ago.

The engine is standard apart from a Blitz exhaust. I have bought a used Apexi from reading info on this forum. Guessing I will need an induction kit.

Question I have is.....are there any decent rotary specialists near Birmingham? Would like them to advise what I need to get more power, fit and map  the Apexi etc.

From what I have been reading... Powergains is good but based in Essex. Also come across WGT autos in Cheshire which is nearer.

Any advice?

Hi mate, they've been around for years and years......and probably the complete 1 stop shop for Rotary in the Uk. got a dyno too. Never used myself as i use Hayward and RX motors as im down south. Based on location wgt are 2nd to none....there not cheap but ive never heard a bad review.

get some piccys up!.

what sort of power you after? im on twins at 14psi still sequential, max the stock turbos can really handle and circa 320bhp...which in such a lightweight car is plenty.

prob best to give them a ring and discuss your requirements, you probably need a free flowing downpipe to get more power and possibly and uprated intercooler...if still on stock. it all depends what you want todo with it, if aimimg to go on track it gets a bit expensive as heat is your enemy in a rotary and need ancillaries that can handle and manage the heat like decent radiator, vented bonnet etc.

I’ll get some pics up soon.... car needs a bit of work.

Eventually I would like 400-500bhp which in a lightweight RX7 should be phenomenal. But need to find out what’s involved especially in terms of cost.

I definitely don’t want the engine bridgeported. Been in one and don’t like the noise.

Guessing I will have to go single.

Car won’t be used on track. Just the road.....like the idea of having power on tap.

ive had 2 fd's both twins, 1 was at 16psi and very quickly fried the turbos, well warped them...circa 380 bhp scared the life out of me ha ha, i will go single 1 day but there working fine atmo so ill stay as is...but yes id like a cheeky twin scroll turbo...i dont like lag and the twins come in low down and keep on going...i drove a mates Starion years ago and that had so much lag it was horrible...

I have known Pip for many years and he looks after the mapping on my FD engined race car. :great:

Are there are traders on the forum that sell used RX7 parts?

Thats a question !
There’s many ways and mine wAs over many years and half of it by previous and there’s people on here can advise.

Depends how many mods you all really have but from Standard / Unmodified

£10000 + in parts and then Labour on top !

My car spec

Big brake kit with yellow stuff racing pads
Custom rear diffuser
Greedy elbow
Goopy apex seals
Streetported
Oil pressure mod
Baffled sump
Knife edged upper intake manifold
90mm rotary works throttle body’s
Link g4 + Ecu 2 map switch
Borg Warner wgt 8374 external gate t4 twin scroll
Custom manifold
3 inch stainless v banded down pipe
Twin mvr 44mm wastegates plumbed back into downpipe in-line with exhaust flow
Rad tec vmount intercooler
Stainless steel intercooler pipes
Hks power exhaust
850 cc  primary injectors
1680cc Bosch secondary with billet rail
Arm for
Waldron in tank fuel pump
I’m also running aem water meth

When the water meth was fitted they welded into the greedy elbow which left bubbles of weld which eventually broke off and destroyed my rotors and housing.

I’ve just bought a new engine as it was cheaper that a rebuild form sliver  firm performance , had the new engine street ported and all reinstall back to how it was , which has just cost me £8000 I’m just running the engine in at mo on a low powered map before taking it to wgt to have it retuned back to full power
