FC T2 Convertible questions?
« on: June 09, 2018, 05:12:19 AM »
Hello FC gurus!

Weird opportunity came before me straight out of the bushes  ;D I might have change to purchase stunning -92 T2 vert LHD!

She has 90t km on clock, no rust, no oil leaks, no oil consumption, quite good roof, engine has it horses even tho no comp check. Current owner have had it for 11 years I think. Well, car is in really good overal condition.

Then I started to think, I know nothing about FCs.  :)) So, any advise would be good, what to check, what to worry, and so on...?

Cheers
Japi

Check all the normal Rotary things, I just bought a new roof from Rock Auto ($290).   Ensre you use correct plugs, they have "L & R" marked on them.   You tend drive them fast as they love it so Fuel consumption is heavy!
Just finished restoring mine & love it:-
Current: RX7s   FB S3 & FC S5 Vert

Previously owned:  2 x NSU Ro 80 - 2 x RX7 FB S2 - Suzuki RE5 -Norton Commander - DKW W2000

Jarno, with prices rising and if a good price then go for it, usual checks such as get up to temp confirm fans cutting in and out switched off and wait 10 mins ( like getting fuel at gas station)... Re-start car should start easily no excessive cranking....need to drive it or have owner take you on a drive, revs out clean and smooth no misfires or boost issues. then really its normal car checks like youd do on piston motor....tyres, brakes, leaks colour of oil, service history etc...and rust dont take anyones word for it....have you got a advisorys system like our UK mot test that highlights any issues with the car that have met the standard but only just, its a good crystal ball as what bills are looming...
good investment and awesome pressie for your daughter on her 18th...( thats what you can tell the mrs).....if funds tight share with your bro?

Thant is true. That car is not cheap, but its in very good condition. And its LHD so it is rare. Supposed to be only one LHD T2 Vert here, in road anyways. 10k € is asking price and I think its worth it...

Our MoT check system is shit... Howerer,  current owner is long time rotary enthusiast, he knows these things. He purchased it from Germany 11 years ago, from first owner.

He has done several big road trips with it, no problems at all. Car passes MoT every year without any problem.

Yeah, I talked to wife yesterday.  She said that its sofa nights for me then. I said that I dont give a crap... My daughter wants that car too...

Cheers for info! :)

Btw, is there 2+2 seater version of Convertible? Or are they all only 2 seaters?

Well, I smoke about 30-40 a day... At one point, went about 60...
Smokes are cheaper here than in Uk. About 6,80€ a pack at the moment. But they are getting really expencive...
Bro hasnt smoke in year and half now. But he uses alot chewinggum...

I really would like an FD, but at the moment there is not good options for sale. And that LHD really calls me. After all, I dont need frickin missile to cruise around. FC has enough potential to drive around, even with less power than FD...

Just heard that FC might have some ecu chip in it. Can it be seen some how?

If I remember right, KevYorks said that swapping FDs intake manifold on it, it can make more power. I think he said that it needs some adapters tho...? But does it need FDs throttle body too, that I cant remember...?

Also, stock boost is? 0,6bar? And 0,8 is max in that engine?

And then there is oil question. I think Ill might go with premix. But does other oil systems need update? Read that FCs weak point is that bellet in e shatf. I do have new AtkinsRotarys thermal bellet in garage...
