Bit of bad luck last night , the inlet pipe on the actuator snapped off . Would anyone know where I could get a-replacement  for a Greddy T618z . There’s a few from Taiwan on e bay but are not direct replacements

So a resurrection I suppose . The actuator  was sent to Essex as there was a man there who could get an identical one built for me . This took  and absolute age . After waiting for at least three months , it broke me . I was Weighing up times , testing runs Etc and I wouldn’t have seen a track day that year ( last year ) . So out it came , started Sunday and I had my old engine back in and running by Thursday evening , just evenings ,  working with a help from friends . It started first turn of the key . The relief was unexplainable , I handn t realise how much pressure / stress id been putting myself under with the constant unanswered phone calls,  e mails and text . A huge relief . From that point i managed 2 visits to donington park , 2 to castle Combe a few in pembrey one in rockigham and SPA .. the car was , as always faultless .
In the meantime Ray ( Harrizone) worked wonders , knowing that he frequents Essex . I asked him could he just collect my old
Actuator and post it back to me . I had a phone call the following day with a new  actuator on my doorstop within 3 days .
Having had so much fun in my car in the second half of the year . Priorities changed slightly . A new plan , buy an old dog with a naffed engine , fit the turbo engine into that , get it running right and then swap over . I
Picked up an evolve , £300 with a naffed engine,  job done . It was rough around the edges , particularly the rattle canned wing but solid where it mattered . The winter project begun

The installation went well . A few hiccups trying to fit the heat shielding to the inner tunnel . Boy it’s a tight fit . We tried welding some bolts to the tunnel so we could then hold the heat shield on with washers and nuts cut back tight . That was a no go , not even 13 mm clearance between the actuator and turbo to the tunnel . So a few layers and self adhesive gold  heat wrap and matting in place .
Big Pete (RX8OC) had also bought a turbo one for breaking so I borrowed that just to check all turbo pipes were the same , the turbo kit on that car was highly modified and not 100% complete so was no help at all . So , we followed the Greddy installation and cracked on .
After a few turns of the key , boom,  it started . I was quite shocked but more relieved . It was ticking over at 2500 rpm and there was no response from the throttle . Bugger , we let it warm up to temp and turned it off . Check all vac lines , intercooler  pipes etc but all seemed fine . Much head scratching and Grayham ( my Nr 1 helper / associate ) says throttle re set , try that . Ignition on , hold throttle flat to floor for 10 seconds . Turn key and that was it , tick over is quite low and the throttle works fine . Very happy man . I’ll try and add some Vids  of it running shorty

Lollllll ace,

That sounds like it wants to go out and rip up the tarmac.

Good show  :13:

Yep sounded amazing at the time
The colour , it’s a rusty red standard evolve colour , just don’t look at the shiny red dots on drivers  wing ,

Next step was to get it on a dyno - however , a local track day at pembrey was about the same cost . So , bolted on some PZ dampers  and  off we went . Car sounded great boosting / fluttering etc but that’s was about it .the car revved brilliant until 6800 revs and that was it , it was like a limiter kicking in . Unfortunately when you changed up into the next gear it wasn’t quite catching boost so it was a tad slow until the boost kicked .in , being such a small circuit by the time boost kicked in 4th gear it was time to brake . We persevered for a few hours as on a test day giving it as much death as we could ,just checking water temps etc and it lasted . I had put an afr gauge on passenger side so it could be monitored . As we hit 6800 the afr was bouncing off the scale of over-fuelling. It was a cold day so water temp stayed at 105 which I think is just on the limit , I do have a bigger rad to assist cooling in the summer .
To be honest , if I had put the kit in my track car I would have been most upset as it was at least 5 seconds slower on a 50 second circuit .Probably would have put it back on the trailer after the first outing and sulked for a few days ......
I bought the kit as plug and play  however the turbo has been re built with new bigger bits and water cooling added . It never run after the turbo works were done so the map clearly didn’t Suit the works done to the turbo . I started research on rotary specialist to tune the car . Seems like Pip Gardner is the main man . He has looked at the map and there’s a huge fuelling spike at exactly that rev area .
Then after the exchange of a few £££ and a Hand shake the other turbo car I was earlier trying to copy never left my drive . It had all the bits I needed plus more . So turbo one was parked under the car port for a bit . This car hadnt seen daylight for 5 years just parked in a garage as the owner had lost interest without adequate room to work on it .
Will try and update the rest more frequently
