Before I take the plunge and import one from Japan, any owners on here that is considering selling theirs in the near future?

And a quick question - is this forum the best for RX7's in the UK?

Hi mate welcome..and this forum is the not only the best in the uk but probably the universe lol!.
There are others however but i dont frequent them so have no opinion on them.
Your after a rather rare car so posting a wanted is a good idea on this forum and the other 1 to maximise your chances of tempting an owner with a sale.
Goodluck..if you do get 1 stick around and post some piccys up.

What you’re looking for isn’t all that common. Last time I checked there was only one for sale in Japan. If memory serves me correctly it was based on a 99 spec FD, in the original fortune colours of orange and black. The price was an eye watering £33000 in Japan. So by the time you’ve got that here (even if you ship it RORO), I wouldn’t expect any change from £43K. And quite frankly that’s not a car I would ever consider shipping RORO, I’d want to container it.

I actually feel like the most cost effective way might actually be to build one!

Thanks all for your comments. I am after a completed project. Have already enquired about 1 for sale in Japan.

I have considered building one but to be fair it would probably cost more to do so.

p.s what is the other RX7 forum people use?

Hello and  :welcome: to MRC.

Try contacting my old mate Miguel, mgvalero27@gmail.com

He acted as adviser for Tokyo Drift and bought all the cars once the filming finished, I think he bought three or four Veilside's and last one he kept was the real real one with all the right mods.

He not only sells cars but he may be able to connect you up with previous owners, tell him Clive says hello.

As you say, it will be cheaper to buy and when you think of the price of the kit, having the conversion carried out and all the correct mods/ engine fitted your probably the wrong side of 50 K to have this done professionally, plus a year to build!

Hope this helps.
All the best Clive
