Late spec FD ecu wire location
« on: March 23, 2017, 04:49:07 PM »
Hey guys

Working on a front harness for an FD and the ecu plug
On the harness has this yellow wire hanging out. Trying to find out which pin it goes to. If someone has a late spec Rx7 could you have a look and
see where it goes. If not if anyone knows what this wire does that will be good info too.

Thanks

Hi boosted

No idea of specific year, got the harness in a Joblot but it's definitely 96+.

No tracer wire it's just solid yellow with what appears 2 light blue blobs on the wire as you can see in the pic.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the first plug that goes into the ecu. It's part of the main front U shaped harness
that goes round the whole engine bay and goes inside the car both sides.

Thanks :)

Thanks for checking, yeah they are virtually impossible to find,
that's why I was hoping a forum member with a late spec FD could
take a look at their ecu or take a pic of the back of the plug for me.

I didn find a pinout online however is just says the wire function not the colour
so that's no help at all :(

Well i got a headache lol......

cant find mazda elecy drawings...loads of dead links...ended up on Adaptronic site as they make ecus for series 6 and 8 ( no 7?) the pinout config for s6 is 2 rows but that plug is 4 rows but the x4 plugs into there ecu using mazda existing loom and plugs are 4 row but not in the config shown in your pic...and only 1 close is plug 4 which has a alot more wires into suggesting its be de pinned....

logically it has to series 8 as 4 rows but like you say be nice to look inside someones car......

tried and failed sorry....paracetemol time... :violent1:

Thanks for checking, I think the 92-95 ecu pins are 2 row and 96+ Are 4 row? I looked  at a picture of a power fc ecu for 96 onwards and has the same plug shape as the one I'm working on. Pre 96 were 2 row with the yellow plugs. Jdm model aside there isn't even any information or pinouts for USDM cars 96 onwards it's like these manuals never existed. So I'm literally trying to find pics online of an ecu plugged in to see if I can see the pin location for this but no luck at all.

if you have a look on Adaptronic site for each Ecu series they show the pin out and plug physical shape...i came to conclusion s8 was the 4 row and series 6 2 row...but i did have about 6 tabs open at 1 point lol try to cross reference. Theres loads of threads requesting elect drawings and pinouts that all end without resolution.
now adaptronic must have the drawings? worth maybe a call?

But what we really need is friendly series 8  owner to photo his plugs and post. :sign0085: series 8 owner?

Hey Figured it out, it was the rear defroster wire.....pillows out an old dash harness I had in the shed and plugged in the plug at the end where the yellow wire was still attached and it matched on the male plug which ran to rear defroster so all figured out. Thanks for the help boosted hope, your feeling better.
