1999 RX-7 HID Lights?
« on: March 14, 2016, 11:33:12 PM »
Hi

I have both a 1999 RS and RB and I am wondering if any one could give me a recommendation on a good HID light kit for these cars please? Great cars, but full beam is probably weaker than dipped on my Merc, not helpful when trying to dispatch my favourite B road in dark!

Thanks.

Prob best to get them set up correctly on a beam setter so pointing in the right direction.
Then upgrade to led with higher equivalent ratings. The bulb is a h4 standard fit and Cree do some amazing upgrades.
I may be wrong but hid upgrades are now illegal in uk thanks to eu regs meaning everything has to be standard.
Seems modern car manufacturers are making there headlights brighter and brighter and dont think youll get anywhere near that level though unless you spend some serious cash. Well drls on these modern cars imo are dangerous hate driving at night getting dazzled and cant see where im going.

Thanks for putting the link up but as you need to register on FDUK to see anything perhaps you would be kind enough to put the contact details up from the group buy so people with FD's not on there can also see this offer.

Thanks for the info. So can I buy any H4 set and fit it? Does that include both high and dipped beam bulb types for the car?

H4 contains dipped and main. 3 pin.  Buy the genuine Cree 1s.

Sorry, didn't realise it wasn't visible without registering. Hope I've not offended by linking to fduk.

I think you'd have to register to add your name to the list on fduk if you were interested in the this light buy.

For info, they're lights and other things from sakebomb garage

Thanks for the info everyone.

I'll go with the Cree H4 units, the group buy looks good but this RS is a track car, so seems a steep investment for a car who will only get driven at night on the way home from the circuit.

I'd be interested to see what your results are like with the Cree LED's. Post up some pics if you go for it please.

Cheers
