Japfest yesterday
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:22:54 AM »
:thank-you: to all of you who attended Japfest yesterday.  It was a perfect day weather wise.

We had a great stand location thanks to Pete at  RX-8OC.  Hope everyone enjoyed the day and your track sessions.

We had a great display of variety of Rotaries on our stand with four new members being able to bring the car over from the general car park area onto our stand.

Hopefully members will post up shortly pictures of the day.

Had a great day and defo think the LC rotary and Essex Rotary boys defo done the Rotary proud...so many rx8s out on track seemed to me to dominate the track side of things all day! And great to see Clives up and running with some serious pace went by me like i was going backwards!.

http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=83116.msg888031#new

I got a liitle clip here above!

I think Tony with his rx8 defo had the biggest crowd puller all day i say people 3 deep around the car and for me the first time ive seen it in the flesh! Wow its mint and very impressive!

For me i took my s type round with standard springs in with my mate sat shotgun.....nobody got by me and i managed to overtake a few. (except Clive) but was a bit bouncy bouncy in the corners and Tommy nearly pulled my door handle off as he struggled to stay in his seat....bit naughty but my wife timed and averaged a 1.29 so not to shabby for a road car at all....reckon some stiffer springs and federals would see 5 secs off that. I actually turned TC off half way through session as kept flashing exiting corners once off no issues bit off opposite lock and all good. Chickened out on 2nd session as i cant drive 90 %.
so in summary great day. Thanks for organising! 8)

As Lisa said  :thank-you: what a great stand you all made with some way back Rotary people (and you Glenn  ;) ) plus new Rotary guys (and gals) who were great to meet, plus amongst all your great cars a R100 which even I had never seen and was one of just five imported into the UK

Special thanks must go to the couple with the Cosmo who drove down from Scotland, your stars for that  :bravo_2:

As for the resurfaced track, wow its changed , with sooooo little grip compared to how it was before, so much so that my tyres cleaned up smooth looking like they had never even been scrubbed in.

Running only 7800 till finally mapped I was running consistent low 1.21's in the second session, sadly I dont know if this is any good on the new track surface ------------ Jon ?

The RX-4 was a huge grin on track for myself and my mate and surprisingly really not that much slower than a 40 year newer RX-8  :), as a goal I made it my mission after seeing 95 mph to make 100, and we did  :wee_hee: and then had to whoo it up before quarry

Now people know its "not just an ornament"  ;)

I had a great day with all of you, just hope you all did as well.

Thanks for a great day out ,we truly enjoyed ourselves even if it didn't go exactly to plan, I personally think that the rotarys held there own off and on the track, I over heard a few comments from the crowds about how they dominated the track. I did enjoyed seeing  a r100 up close and Clive buzzing round making it look effortless.

Here's a few I took with my phone, time went so fast ! Didn't get around most stands. Mrc stand was well placed, Rx8's seemed to be very popular from memory. Didn't see many 7's throughout the day.

I would also like to thanks Clive and Lisa, especially for fitting me in at short notice and enabling me to get the R100 on show
Great to meet others from the club, and seeing the posted photos is great

Sorry I didn't get a chance to come over and say hello Jim,but was fantastic seeing your car on the Track again  8)

I did get a bit confused on the First Session though as am so used to pulling over to the right to be overtaken on Track Day's and thought the same was at Castle Coombe :-[ so sorry if gave some of you a few kittens while out there :(

This year was such a fantastic turn out and look forward to next years Grand Show Design :D
