Need new toy!
« on: December 16, 2012, 05:25:28 PM »
After much thought I have decided to keep my rx7 off the road and use it just for track days! I\'m gettin bored of not having a car to run. So been looking for something quite fast and reliable. So it\'s come to two cars a monaro vxr or a evo9 what\'s the one to go for!?

me personally would go for a manaro. Rwd 6ltr v8 easier and cheaper to run/service, believe it or nor more ecnomical. No brainer really. evo drivers tend to be :Yawn:Yawn:Yawn:Yawn:Yawn

Monaro, no question.

That\'s the answer I wanted! Just hope I don\'t grow to like it more than the Rex :(

It\'s a very different machine but there\'s a lot to love.  It\'s brawny.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Wouldn\'t touch an Evo with a barge pole for a regular use machine personally. Service intervals and repair costs are eye watering if anything should go wrong.

At least with the Monaro you\'ve got the most unstressed and long running engine design in the world and it\'s essentially a sled. Not exactly a nice place to be though.

Actually I\'d consider an E39 M5 as well in the same breath as a Monaro. Better car all round but as with any M car, repair costs and servicing aren\'t going to be great.

of the many many cars i have owned the 2 best where my rx7 and my evo 8 fq300.....point to point down any b road you would be hard pressed to find any car that is more capable than an evo.....i found it less costly than my rx7 fd but i would buy a low mileage example with fsh. 30 k covered no issues other than services.

owed 3 scoobys .....not a patch on my standard fq300.

on track i was .5 secs off an atom 300 on lap times.

never owed a monaro though!

Neither - I\'d go for one of these
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

What\'s sensible - seem to go from 10k - 15k for a 12 year old car.

With late ones [2001] 20k-22k
