Another fascinating video, thanks again Philip   :great:

Shame to see Clive have to retire, hopefully better luck next time. Overall though, with a win in the bag, a good day  :sign0098:

Taken the plunge and will be entering the last round of the Thunder Saloon Car Championship October on 27th/28th Brands Hatch (Televised) with the RX-8.

Tony Gilham the owner of BTCC Team Hard is kindly donating a set of Dunlop slicks as I am interested in seeing how the car will perform.

Need to fit a new clutch this week then off for more mapping by Pip at WGT next Saturday morning to find even more mid and low range power. Then the following week I need to convert my Kazz diff to a 4.3 ratio as this will give me more legs in 3rd and 4th plus a longer 1st is going to help off the line.

Lots and lots of money being spent in this series and whilst I'm really pleased they have all welcomed me with open arms, because I'm Rotary and Turbo  they have put me in the top 2wd class and I'm up against real quick expensive cars like you can see in the pictures, big ex-works V8 Aussie touring cars, turbo cossys ex BTCC cars etc. The Mustang you see below turned up last week backed by a full blown race team in a fairly new ex formula one artic, wow these guys are spending serious money!

Going to be tough against this type of big money grid, just hope the RX-8 will be quick enough with some decent grip to uphold Rotary Honour  ;)

They list it as two days so I wonder if its qualifying on Sat then race on Sunday.
I payed a club joining fee last night so hopefully I will know the format soon.

Wow, that's some serious competition! Can't make the Saturday, but should be able to make the Sunday if you need some support  :13:

Thanks Malcolm,

I posted this up in response to a question on the RX8OC and yes I know this will be a big ask to be competitive, but I'm going to try ;)

They have put me in the Thunder Saloon A2 class which is 2 wheel drive 4000 cc and upwards :
Lap record in this class was by a 2wd Skyline with a 50 second lap back in 2015

Started looking at lap times and earlier in the year when the car won at Brands I was doing consistent 54 second laps, so with the developments I've made plus the new turbo, different gearing and slicks rather than treaded tyres it looks like "if" I can find even 2 seconds a lap I shouldn't make a fool of myself and 3 seconds would make me real competitive,  Its already been commented on their facebook page that they feel the car will be competitive from what they have seen already----------- lets hope they are right

Christine struck again today  :-[, but we sort of foiled her (a bit)  :D

Another 400 mile round trip up to Pip's (WGT) to try and finish the map.

Pip had me re-pipe the wastegate incorporating a MAC 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid  which when connected into the Adaptronic would have allowed the wastgate to be programmed how Pip wanted and guess what, Christine  stepped in "again" after messing about for an hour a stethoscope revealed that it just clicked on an off once when activated, but it should have been clicking all the time. This indicated my new solenoid was no good!

Fortunately I still had my Turbosmart Boost controller still installed so it was just a matter of re-piping and having another re-map.

Not all was lost  as We still got some more boost into it and at still only around a bar of boost we now have 470 BHP but more importantly I have quite a bit more power at the bottom end which should let me pull the higher 4.3 diff ratio and also have more top end speed as I am revving out on just about all the straights (only managed 148 on the straight at Coombe with the lower diff :))   .

Auxiliary 2, it obviously has a feed because the ECU is seeing  the solenoid and its been configured as well.

The car should go better so its not a big deal, it just didn't let Pip hold the boost better in the places he wanted.
