Hey all, going to get a H.I.D kit for my knightsports! Ive done some research and been told to get a digital ballast, any other advise i should follow! As to be fair i just can believe some of the prices on the bay of e!

take your time fitting it, i put a set in my fd and it took me a lot longer than normal to fit due to the pop ups and the way the headlights are positioned (i had to modify some stuff to get them to fit)

What bulb size are the knights ports?

Are you going HiD on both low and high beam ??

How have you managed to get a dipped beam with the Knightsports. My set are all driving lights and they would not pass an MOT?

digital is more for new cars which detect the resistance through the bulb. if it reads less than 55w then assumes is broken so will flash up the faulty light light on the dash.
(often occures with most 35w kits but easily solved with a can bus)

fd should be ok with any hid kit (digital or non digital)
can bus is just a resistor that bumps up the resistance so the elec stuff sees 55w so doesnt flash up the faulty light light.

99% made in china so same stuff really. :)
PS i got a spare kit 35w h3 6000k (white light) £55 posted.
not sure how much ebay sells for.

As long as the HID bulb is fitted into a OEM HID or HID complient headlight unit you will be fine for the MOT.

You will need self levelling headlights and washers for the MOT as of 2012...but you can simply change back to bulbs at MOT time...

I have cheap ones (£40) from ebay, and they have been fine...other people I know have had all sorts of issues - failing ballasts and bulbs, flickering, whine from the radio - same old Chinese cheapo stuff really, the quality varies kit by kit, and seller by seller. From what I\'ve heard, keep away from "OMG cool car parts" - seems to be one of the worst...

They are a bit pants in your high beam, as they take a while to warm up, and don\'t like being flashed on and off ;)

From what i know the light units are ipf which have a beam pattern, pop a photo up of your units!

Pics of my KS quad lights. All four are the same and are main beam driving lights. I want to get two units that will take dip beam lamps with a spread beam pattern.

You can just aim the inner pair down as a dipped pair but the light spread is pants.

Ive tried the MX5 quad light folks but they wont part with any spares.

So how do you get KS lights to dip and pass the MOT.

Well they are different to my ipf units, but the glass pattern looks similar. I cant really help with the pattern issue at that point!

I bought a HID dip & main kit from Mazda Rotary Parts and it pases the MOT fine, bought as a group buy in Dec 09. Not too difficult to fit !

As previously mentioned...the MOT rules are changing in 2012, and HIDs fitted, with no self levelling and washers will fail the MOT ;)
