Just to recommend to you fellow rotary hooligans an excellent
and substantial article in the July 2004 edition of Japanese Performance magazine. The article ( accompanied by some comprehensive photography) compares the RX-8 with a 2001
Spec Type R. This as we know is a somewhat contrived comparison, but more satisfying than the usual tedious contrived
"showdowns" with the Nissan or Golf.
Naturally both beasties are winners, and the article also tries to communicate any latent disadvantages in both vehicles.
The photography is unobtrusive but revealing, and particularly
the side-by-side comparison pictures. The originality and pure beauty of the FD is confirmed as is the Mazda/Rotary "DNA" evident in the RX-8.
