Adventures of Ben\'s FC

Though it would be cool to make a thread on where i take the FC, as inevitably this FC will probably see a few more countries than your average FC. Considering its been a UK car for the last 20+ years of its life and has now moved to Cyprus and hopefully will one day come back to the UK with me.

Anyway, babble over. Last night went out for a drive toward Kolossi (west of Limassol) was aiming to go and take a look at a place called \'Kouris Dam\' but instead i followed the old road up into the mountains toward a place called Omodos which i\'d been to in January. I did this thinking eventually i\'d see a sign for the dam, but didn\'t instead after 20 odd mins of driving i found a sign for Peri-pedi which i\'d seen before. So i headed toward that and stumbled accross one of the best roads i\'ve ever driven on!

This particular road was slightly bigger than single track, but certainly not as wide as your usual road and was rather high up. The tarmac was top quality with no cracks in sight, i assume because the road is not used regually (i only crossed paths with 2 other cars in about 30 mins!) and becasue its quite high up with no barries to stop you from an impending doom if you were to go off the road. The road twisted and turned, with creasts, hairpins, banked corners the lot and the views were fantastic. Instead of babbling on, i\'ll upload a few pictures for you to all see. I apologise in advance for the pic quality for i only had my iPhone with me.

These first photo gives you an idea as to how wide the road was, apologise for them being taken from the drivers seat.

This is the impending doom i spoke of, with no barrier protection.

Some really nice views!

An example of a wonderfull corner!

This next photo the road opened up and there were views on both sides, as you can see the passenger door in this one

Couldn\'t miss a cheeky photo of the old girl :Giggle

Comments more than welcome.

Took her out around Kouris dam yesterday, the road is awesome i didn\'t take many pics unfortunately as i was with a mate. Might take her out on saturday and get some pics of the FC with the dam, i\'ve concluded that other than the mid afternoon heat Cyprus is a great place to be an FC owner. The roads are smooth there are some awesome twisty places and the sun shines all year round.

This first one shows the Dam from the front (approach) the road down to it twists left and right around the side of the mountain and is only just wider than single track but so smooth!

This is the road accross the dam, the walls on either side really echo the exhaust note :D

This is the view from the road accross dam its self - The left of the pic is where the road goes round, so you get an idea of how it twist around the curves of the side of the dam.

The last 2 pics are just from the road looking into the dam, just thought the water was such a nice colour. I heard from a freind that someone dumper an aligator in the dam a few years back, made me laugh.

If i go on saturday i\'ll get some pics perhaps of some of the awesome road.

You know what, i don\'t know what all this business about being really really bad on fuel is. It doesn\'t seem to be that bad really, i mean when i take her out i\'m no pussy with the accelerator but the guage doesn\'t seem to move down that quickly?

So took the FC out again yesterday afternoon, headed over towards a place called Kourio and a bit further a place called Episkopi. There is a big Britsh army base at Epsikopi, on the way around Kourio a stopped to take 2 pics of the FC and Cyprus coast.

Then i went a bit further and there a an old Roman stadium just around the corner from these 2 pics, so thought it rude not to get a pic thre for the novelty of it!

Then i headed through Episkopi and a found an interesting road, reminded me of a go cart track. (yes its single track)

It lead to a small bay, but i can\'t for the life of me remember what it was called. Took some pics anyway, to be honest it wasn\'t that greater run out today i\'m going to go up into the mountains on saturday which should make for better photo oppourtunities :)

Been up to a place called Agros today in the Troodos mountains, some awesome roads up there. Unfortunately I was to busy having such tyre sqealing fun that I could get any pics of the roads, but rest assured its no lie! Some parts it twisted left then right then left and so on for a few kilometres without any breaks, got to experience some of this legendary understeer mind. On the upside I got to test out the oversteer in some places and realised the chassis isn\'t half bad at all, in fact I was pushing it quite hard in some places and I didn\'t feel the car was on her limit. Definately need some coilovers though to stop the bodyroll, unfortunately I\'m going to need a new clutch soon as well :Giggle

Did take a quick few snaps of the mountain views, there were no \'view points\' up there for more which was disappointing. But she\'s had a very good run today I\'ve heard the buzzer countless times, so the old Rotary has certainly blown away a few cobwebs now from last 2 weeks of standing :D

As always comments and discussions more than welcome ;)
