if that\'s from me, look around you and what\'s most common gearbox out there and use it.
eg, in Uk, common gearbox was Ford Type9 , buy a quaife gearset etccc for it.
Volvo box will be the best opinion for you, is that\'s matter for a wee kg more.
if the winner car got heavy box, there you go and buy the same as winner car.
Ya, there is that problem. Most common gearboxes here wont take that kind of beating or dont have enough gear ration options.
That Volvo box is amazing. But in next season my friends car is(hopefully) with rotary engine. And moving/shaving weight is must important thing. At the moment he is racing with Opel 2.0 L 16 valve engine, so when he swamps rotary in, weight should drop about 30-40 kg. And that weight has to be moved so cars balance will be in optimum.
He races with Lada 2107 against Toyota MR2´s. So no gearbox match there.
MR2`2 are most common and "car to beat" in rallycross here.
Btw, today was the first race of the season. And only thing that hasnt been changed from last season, breaked...
In practise... MSD ignition box... Bad luck, but thats racing...
