R100 - are they a myth?
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:18:42 AM »
Hi All, does anyone have any stats on how many R100 coupes are still active in this country?
I know not many were originally imported in the first place.
Any info on where I could find one for sale or someone willing to be tempted to sell would be much appreciated.
Paul

3 R100\'s were officially sold in UK.
All probably gone now.
I did see for sale a Familia quite a few years back which was the 4 door saloon model that was sold in Japan only domestic market.
One or two in europe such as switzerland.

Carl

Hello Paul and welcome to Mazdarotaryclub which as the name suggests was founded for all Mazda Rotarys from old to new :cheers

Carl has already answered with most of the info I know, also as far as I know this was only from one dealership in Wales so not sure these were ever classed as "official" out in the world these were called  Familia R100\'s and were made from 1968-1973

Just yesterday some nice pictures went up from an overseas member of ours with R100\'s on the thread,
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59960

Also it may be worth contacting Multirotor on this thread if your real serious as this car may not have sold,
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48683&highlight=r100

As a Club thats now been around for 8 years you should find the search button on the top bar your friend for most things Rotary including the R100

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Carl,

I have personally seen 2 R100s (imported from USA) in a certain shed in Belgium. There is also another one 5 minutes walk from my current location in Germany. Originally purchased by VW in 1969. They are around and are available.

A bit more than one or 2 matey.

i am aware of what went on, been on here alot longer than this username ;)

i was trying to help the guy out but the questions been answered now.

i understand it caused grief to some but surely putting the site name in a swear filter comes across very childish and silly, they have helped me out a great deal with knowledge about our rx4 on where to get parts etc and i feel they could share more info on the topic stated

What was the piston engine version called if there was one?

r100 is in fact the rotary COUPE version of the STA ( 1200 coupe )
later models are based on the STB ( 1300 coupe )

there is detail differences in the front panels and headlights and rear taillights
between the three

- also STA to STB there is differences in the front end swaybar types
the STA being more datsun like with a floating swaybar
the STB uses the dual purpose swaybar/ control arm locator
and this STB arrangement follows through to rx2 and similar in 808
( ie a banana shaped cross member with control arms fixed rearward off a pin )

also,, r100 sold in aussie has 14 inch wheels and unique stud pattern different to the STA/STB

( in other markets i believe the r100 share the same pattern to STA/STB )
