New engine at last
« on: August 31, 2008, 11:28:38 AM »
The boys from Lindop motorsport dropped off a nice new run in engine off on thursday. Very nice it is too and only 2500 quid. was going to drop it straight in but the hoist i hired only lifted the engine off the ground 6 inches. its sunday now and the engine is still on my drive, so i have been doing other bits the the car. new heater, remove immobiliser, fitted coilovers, remove airpump, silver pulleys fitted, cleaning engine/ FM intercooler.

The hire place picked the hoist up friday at 5.00pm and on sat i went to HSS who said they had one, but then wouldnt let me take it as it said on the computer it needed servicing also 36.25p!!! = rip off and a wasted 20 mile trip.

looks like tuesday now for the install because monday i need to get the plate that goes on the top of the gearbox fitted before i lower it in (will be much easier)

Planned on selling my exedy clutch but i am considering fitting it. here is some pics anyhow.

The lads took it back and said i have to wait until tuesday when the fitter is in to put fluid in it. **** take rally but at least i have time to get the car right before the engine goes in. need that plate anyways so tuesday is good. Just hope it goes smoovly after this.

I have to get my exhaust machined too. a seat repaired and some bits spraying black.

Hi everyone. pretty standard stuff but ill share with you a fantastic mystical insight into my day which started with a huge blood blister on my thumb as soon as i started. and ended with my engine laying nice and snug into its new bed. here it will train and learn to become a great road warrior.

I cant believe i have had the engine 4 days and its only just gone in now. those plant hire companies need shooting.

YEAH, sure did it was close i just jacked the gbox up and it slotted itself in nicely. i didnt get the hoist till like 4,00 so only 2 hours work done really today, and half that was getting the tools out the garage and putting them back. considering totally removing the pas, would make lots more room in the engine bay. Do you know if there is a write up on this? the wiring loom is in, the oil coolers connected fuel pipes too. thats pretty much it. the dash is also back on with a new heater and now i have removed the air con pump, everything else air con related had been removed anyhow. ned to phone my mate and see if he has machined my exhaust.

I done the exact same thing about a year ago mate.

I also used a HSS hoist. The first one I had nearly killed me and the car! It was so unstable when the engine was in the air it wasn\'t even funny!!!

Started her up yet?
