FD back at the London Motorshow
« on: July 18, 2008, 08:52:07 AM »
If anyone\'s interested, Mazda are displaying several cars in a small area next to their stand under the banner of the heritage area. I understand there will be at least an FD (mine :Giggle) and an MX5, there may be others from Mazda\'s history, I\'m not sure. Will be cool to see an FD (well I am biased!) back on display at such a prestigious event!

(PS - a quick thanks to Clive who started the chain of events that lead to the car being used! :Thumbsup!)

Pleased for you Andrew and congrats  on getting a new RX-8 the same color, be real good if you could bring both to R5 and park them next to each other

Yes it will! I delivered it on Sat. The Ford area is pretty big, arranged in a horseshow shape (Mazda along one side, Jaguar and LandRover along the other and Ford itself along the top), with a central strip in the middle of the horseshoe for a "Heritage Area". Apparently, this will show the FD, an MX5, and 4 MK1 escorts. You couldn\'t really ask for a better position for the cars to be on show! Slap bang in the middle of the Ford area.
It was interesting dropping it off. The whole show was in pieces, everything was being built. Many of the stands have the cars already parked up, and the actual display areas were still being built! You can\'t believe it will be ready for Wednesday (or Tuesday, if that is the press day?)!! I\'m down on the 29th, so will be interested to see what the whole area looks like when it is all complete!

Just received this from Mazda as part of their press pack for the British Motor Show and I have taken the excerpt that gives info about Andrews car that he has kindly presented to Mazda on behalf of Mazdarotaryclub after Mazda approached the club for assistance

Went to the motor show yesterday and was literally stopped in my tracks by the RX-7. Even with a Ford GT 3 cars down, and the new GTR 40 yards away, that car blew them both away. Really nice car mate, and judging by the attention it got I wasn\'t the only one who thought so!

Thanks!

We did hear from some of the stand people that there had been quite alot of comments on the RX7, some people even wanting to know when they could buy one! :D

Car of the show! Such a beautiful example. Made me quite smug (as a fellow FD owner) overhearing the comments made about it. It was one of two FDs on display along with the Whifbitz car - not bad for a 16 yr old design - holding its own amongst all the new metal.

Just back from the motor show.

Wow!

andrewrx7 if you *ever* want to sell that car... call me! :mmmm

Truly a gorgeous car! I don\'t normally like white cars, but your Spirit R is an absolutely exceptional car - in amazing condition.

I see from your Spirit R site that you used to own a Silverstone FD, as I currently do :) my personal favourite colour for the FD. [Although I guess you know that as you replied to my paint thread ;) ]

Unfortunately I missed the Whifbitz car as I had to go before I took in the whole of the show. Had the kids with me to give them some decent automotive education :) - and they ran out of steam at about 4:30.

Now I have to go and figure out how to get a Spirit R into the country... is it just the UK that needs the magical "model report" or the whole of the EU?

you wont be able to import and register one at least another 4 years.
One idea would be import one then transfer all the parts to an old FD shell job done

So has anyone got any pics of this?

You are one lucky man to have a Spirit-R, I think I\'d happily give my left nad for one of those!

PS I\'ll upload my pictures from the Motorshow as soon as I get them off the camera :)
