my opinion is that a remap is always better than a chip.  Best thing to do is take it to a specialist, i have heard re worx have done quite a bit with rx8\'s but never used them myself, have heard they have a good rolling road set up aswell.  Im sure most of the tuners would look at mapping your car or could recommend someone who could.

a remap is always better than an aftermarket chip as it is set up exactly for your engine, as far as im aware all engines are built within tolerances, so every engine can be slightly difference.
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

Hi Joe,

Sorry but you really are going to struggle with this one as the RX-8 has a very complicated system within the ECU that actually operates the engine  with three different fuel/ignition maps  depending on how aggressive or not the  driver is with the throttle pedal,

As far as I know the reflash that you are taking about from any other country will not work on your car for a variety of reasons,  i.e. different fuel that is used and emissions requirements also the big killer is that as far as I know the only ECU upgrades that have been performed are for 230 models and not the 190.

One solution will be to fit either a Motec ECU or a HKS F-CON PRO to the car but with all the sensors and labour required you could well be looking at £5k to make this happen,

The only other system that may work on your car is an E-Manage piggy back ECU but I am not sure if this will even plug into a 190 ECU.

Bottom line on this one is that unless you are either racing the car properly or fitting either a supercharger or turbocharger that the standard ECU will cope with exhaust and inlet mods that you may be looking to carry out

Hello,

my name is George Vangelis and I am owner of EasyTuning.
As Clive has said there "were" no solutions for remapping the ECU.
Btw. the emanage Ultimate plugs fine into the the 192 (We have successfully done this in the past with a Compressor Kit from Blitz).
The thing is that now you can obtain the European version of the AccessPORT for both models (231 and 192).
We are proud to be the first to introduce the AccessPORT to Europe!
At this time, you can get the European version only through us (we have a small leading time because we helped in the process of releasing the version).
So your options are:
1) Wait after New Year, when the AccessPORT will become available in the UK.
2) Buy it now, with the included maps and use a data-logger to send us back data, so that we apply necessary corrections (with a small surcharge). The official release is on the 17th of September.
3) Find 3-4 more people willing to buy an AccessPORT and let us split part of the expenses of flying over to the UK for a custom tuning session.

By the time the AccessPORT will be officially introduced, we will have dyno results available.

Best Regards,
George

This looks like a great bit of kit I\'ve just got a few questions (for now anyway):Giggle.

1. If you had a standard 8 what kind of performance improvements could you get or have Mazda pretty much squeezed all the power out of the 8 already.

2. It says it has a economy mode again how much does this improve the economy by.

3. Will you be able to use this to re flash the ecu if you have a supercharger or turbo fitted.

4. Is the data that\'s been logged able to be download to a computer.

5. How many places are likely to stock it in the new year.

Ok, let\'s try to answer your questions...:-)

1) Improvement for a stage 1 map would be about 15 HP with a lot more potential under some specific conditions.
2) This is something we are testing right now. I should be able to answer that in about 2 weeks. The goal is to have a 15 - 20 % improvement in economy. Of course this economy comes in expense of some power, but is OK for a daily driver (and you can at any time reflash with the stock or improved map).
3) Yes. We already fitted it to our own Turbo (around 300 HP) and to our supercharged (no dyno yet). The map for Turbo or Supercharger is not included in the basic package and has to be bought separately.
4) Not at this time. If and when the Street-Tuner version becomes available, you will.
5) This is something I cannot answer. You should ask Cobbtuning.

Let me say that with some first research, it seems that because of EU regulations, fuel quality is the same all over the Countries in the European Union, so our maps should work fine with your fuel.

Regards,
George

i had mine done back in may now from this guy in doncaster http://www.ecuflash.co.uk/ECU.aspx?Make=Mazda&Model=RX8
ive got the 231hp but could tell a nice increase in power and a few more torques think i paid around the 350 mark.
Stratos blue 231 55 plate, Ecu yellowstuff pads and brakes all round, AEM cold air intake, Front cusco strut, Toyo sport exhaust, manifold and ECU remap, R Magic rear spoiler.
