Can anyone advise me on requirements for getting a 2001 RX7 through an ESVA

yeah dont do it lol..
First check to see if theres a model report for the car, and dont buy a highly moddified one as it`ll only end in tears bud.. just put an evo through and it failed because it has blue halogen headlight bulbs ...knobs!

There has been talk about a model report being done, but as far as I\'ve heard it still hasn\'t been done. If you were to buy a 2001 car it would have to stay off the road for the next 4 years!

Someone passed the test in a 2002 RX7 ...he has done all the SVA work him self with help form one of the vendors and the car had passed it

i save myself the guts of £500 doing my own prep for a sva test, most 2000+ rx7`s wont be modified much so its just a case of fitting a foglight, converting speedo to mph and havin a minimum of a cat 2 immobiliser fitted but it needs to be fitted by a auto electriction.. also a fuel neck restrictor for unleaded fuel.
iv done 3 cars now and each btime i learn a new thing to check lol like blue halegon sidelight bulbs

If you read the post, it is a 1999 FD, but he had it imported and tested in 2002. The rules on importation changed sometime in 02/03, so he obviously managed to get the test done before the rule change was implemented.

With regards the question at the start of this topic, as has already been said, you can\'t get the test done for FDs less than 10years old without a model report, which no-one currently has available.

hi andrew-yes that was me i got my 99 rex through with some guiadance from andrew before the enhanced sva came in.but my mate was lazy and didnt get it done in time this is currently still sat in our workshop with no certificate and has not moved for 5 years and will still be there until 2009!!!!
with only 7000miles on it from new!!!!!

Oh dear!! Bet he must be very bruised by now from 5years of kicking himself!

I assume the import rules are a rolling 10year time frame, I\'ve never actually read that this is the case. If it is, then only 2 more years to go!

Takes a long time to do and will cost in excess of £20k! I know one or two people are working on them at the moment, rumours are that one of the cannonball organisers has been working on trying to get a model report done for about 3 years!

i think he is just going to wait until the 10 years is up-the speed at which he is fitting the bodykit at(bit of a perfectionist)he will probably just be starting the respray by 2009!!!:Hammer

there must be more to it, otherwise someone will have had it done by now! I\'m guessing the emissions problem would rear it\'s ugly head and if you were to alter the car to pass the emissions test, it would have deviated from the manufacturers spec?
