How much oil should an FD consume?
« on: May 03, 2007, 10:42:06 PM »
Hi guys, just wondering what the average oil consumption was on an FD? Also on the oil dipstick how much oil would be consumed if the level went from 3/4 to 1/4?

Thanks :driving

I always thought that from top to bottom marker on dip stick is 2 ltrs, so from 1/4 to 3/4 would be approx 1 ltr.
I also believe that on average it is 1ltr per 1000 miles. But the harder you use it the more it will use, so a rough guide really

Yup, I get the 1ltr/1000miles.  Use less oil if you granny it for a while.

I have found that oil in a fd that has had a hard life and done a few thousand miles burns a lot, lot quicker than when it\'s new.

One of the problems with mineral oil, as it gets older its film strength and quality soon fail, hence less protection and less economical.

from empty to full on the stick is 1 litre, im pretty sure of that.

average is 1lt per 1000 miles, but you can adjust it with the PFC so you might be using more.  If your concerned about it check for leaks - if there are none tehn your pfc has probably been modded.
