17 year old needs insurance

If i had an FD when 17, i would have bragged that i would eventually be a doctor and already i had a chick-magnet car..........then subsequently shat my pants and probably died..............saying that, if you\'re F1 pedigree, you\'ll be OK...hey, Jenson\'s still "young"!!

i pay £1650 at 21 with 2 yrs ncb, 3 points.. and that was after ringing over 30 companies (see my thread)
most companies wont even insure you at under 25, let alone 17 with no experience.

these cars are very fast and can be hard to control, id seriously suggest a few years with other cars, going up to this kind of power.

Lol Zed, nice one. My stepdad used this on me when I was 17 too. He had an original Audi Quattro and told me much the same, you can drive it if you get it insured, which I tried to no avail. No one would go near me (it was the early 90\'s when cars were getting stolen by joyriders all the time and insurance was sky high for cars like that). My stepdad later admitted to me that he knew there was no way I\'d find a policy that would cover me for it but didn\'t really want to say your not getting a shot cause you\'ll wrap it round a tree (and he didn\'t want to be in the bad books with my mum).

I think the only way you\'ll get cover as a 17 year old is by going on someone else\'s policy and even then it\'ll need to be a very friendly insurer and it\'ll cost ££££. Good luck to you if you do and it doesn\'t, and let us know.

I bought my FD at 21 and I could only get 3 companies to even quote me. I called about 30 of them to.
You don\'t need to be young to drive stupid but it does seem the younger you are the more likely you are to smash the car up!

I had an Astra GTE 16v at 18 with a load of mods and was near on 200bhp. It was only costing me £680 through the Vauxhall Performance Car Club with 1 years NCB.
