Sizes and Offsets....

i understand what has been said about offsets but what about wider wheels.

say the offset is reduced by 25mm that means the wheel will stick out an extra inch. But then what is the wheel width is 1inch smaller, will it be the same.

Im just wondering what i need on the rear for a 50mm wide arch fender. Thats around 2 inches so if i keep the same offset and get a 10" wide wheel as opposed to the standard 8" then shouldnt it bring it out just right? I know this is wrong as there seems to be much more to offsets and wheel widths that that, but i just cant see it

i think if you put a 2" wider wheel on and keep the same offset of 50mm...it wont even fit as it will fowl the suspension etc...i have 9.5j et 37 on the rear of my fd,with a 275/35/18...i think you would need something like et 20 or et15 to bring the wheel out...

so instead, if the offset was reduced by 2" on a standard rim then would the wheels stick out 2" more thus being level with the wider arches?

Ideal on the front but could do with being a 25mm offset on the back as they\'ll be about 3/4" in from bodywork. Either that or you want a 9.5" width with that offset for the back.

See the calculator I posted, it\'ll work everything out you need including tire widths etc.

Basic question about offsets: Is it pretty much a visual thing just to get the wheels looking at their best in the wheel arches, or is it also to do with how the car handles etc? Sorry but I know nothing about this subject.  :Hammer
FD or not FD? that is the question.

Alrite lads, been reading through the posts and ive not really seen any mention of spacers...

Got my wheels from my MR2 17", 7J, 35offset. Would a set of spacers work their magic to fit these onto the Rex? (I REALLY can\'t afford a new set of rims !, and I do quite like these. They\'re BK299 wheels.

Thanks,

-Z

They are only 7 inches wide, the stock wheels are an inch wider than these.

See post no 28.

This would be a backward step for you to take.
