Under 21\'s?
« on: November 25, 2002, 11:49:59 PM »
Anyone know of anywhere that would be stupid enough to insure me on an 3rd gen RX-7 when I\'m 20? I was going to wait until I\'m 21, but whilst the resale values on the mini are still high it might be a good idea to jump ship now...

Got 1 years no claims and 3 points SP50 at the moment, so that won\'t help

Cheers,

Dom

I reckon some places will probably insure you but its a question of how much you want to pay

Everywhere I\'ve tried online has said wait until I\'m 21, and when 21 I\'ll get a quote of £1300, which isn\'t too bad. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of insuring under 21\'s.

Looks like I\'ll have to wait though, which I\'m prepared to do :)

have you tried the specialists in the back of jap car mags? I doubt you\'ll get a good online quote, the companies who would insure you will probably only do phone quotes.

Have you tried adrian flux? I think you\'ll have a good chance with them.

Still 19 at the moment, just phoned adrian flux, they said around 6k... less than expected but still just a tad high ;)

I\'ll be sticking with the rattly mini for another year and a bit yet then :(

That was the UK spec turbo though ;)

How did you get a quote of £1300!! I\'m 22, cheapest I could get it was £2200 from Directline, and thats with 4 years NCB and an SP60 with 3 points, and I had to have a tracker fitted as well as a CAT1 alarm!!  So come on, where did you get that quote from?!?!
I was paying just under that for my \'92 Civic VTi!!!

It was from Elephant.

I used a UK spec RX7, with 6k miles pa and as a second car. I also added my old man onto it as a named driver, he\'s 58 with IAM and all that...

I also put that it would be garaged and used for social only. I live in a band B postcode...

Hope that\'s of some use

Dom

Incidentally, tescos only want £1,627.50 and that\'s without the old man. Adding him brings it down to £1,509.90.

I can\'t recheck the quotes from elephant as their site is fcuked

Dom, things are afoot on the insurnace front. If you can wait a couple of weeks Clive should have some good news for us all.

my drivin instructor sorted it for me(that was 5yrs ago)
