Hi guys I recently bought an old copy(4th feb 1960) of The Motor Cycle magazine on e-bay because it had an interesting article on an Italian rotaru engine likened to the wankel.
It is a very small article but has a few cool photos. Has anyone heard of this before?
One quote that I thought was potentially mind blowing was this

" Imario\'s engine works on a similar principal tp the NSU-Wankel engine, though the rotor may have more than three flanks and the chamber more than two lobes."

That is a concept I have never heard of before.

Also hope that by quoting this magazine article i have not done bad things with reguard to copyright. If any mod thinks I might have please delete and ban me fopr life.! :evillaugh

Felix Wankel put together many many idea\'s into a compilation and accreddited many other types and ideas for rotary engines to the various inventors, among them were derivations of the same principle that he used for the 3 lobe rotor and two lobe housing, but with 4 rotor lobes, and 3 housings lobes, and so on.

I\'m tempted to send a letter to Rolls Royce regarding their Rotary experiments, if I get a response I\'ll let you know :)

Rolls Royce expiremented with the setup like no one else but Mazda!  They built 1,2,3,4 rotor engines, diesel ones and some with more than 3 tips!

Nissan, General Motors, Mazda, Mercedes, Suzuki and Norton also dabbled with Rotary\'s (cant remember who else)

I think that the most prolific players with the Wankel engine are Curtiss Wright.
The made an engine with a rotor almost as big as a man,the only trouble was that it\'s flame front could not keep up with the rotor!
They made many multi rotor engines including 6 rotor ones.

This single rotor monster measured 31,500 cc\'s and produced 780 bhp at just 1500 rpm. I dont think that it would fit in a bike though  :D
