Noobie here :)
« on: June 12, 2003, 02:40:25 AM »
Hi all! :wave

I\'m new here and thinking of buying an FD imported from Japan. I would be grateful if anyone has any tips about the various importers in the UK.. it seems a bit scary handing over 5-6grand and waiting like 8 weeks for your car to arrive..
My knowledge of rotary is quite limited too so any tips there will be quite helpful :)

Hi and welcome.

OK what ever you are going for, check allways the OIL! Use mineralic oil only on your rotary. They are also some synthetic oils but them have to meet many criterions, like low ash and low chalk etc..... so using mineralic is more secure way.
Change your oil and filter every 3.000 miles or less.
Change your coolant every year.
Upgrade your radiator and keep your engine cool at any price!
..... and you will be realy happy with your RX-7.

that if u want to get a RX7 for a good price and good conition the best way is to get it from japan via different importer......we got a few impoter on the forum and i m sure that they can help BNA_ELIS? and other like newera import and all of them require you to pay a deposit first, if u are not sure about it and worry about handin money to them, you best off just go to autotrader and look from them and so u can see and drive the car......good luck.....

Hi John,

You need a bigger radiator than the stock one. Look for alloy or aluminum radiator. You can buy a radiator by http://www.pettitracing.com/. One of the very expansive place to purchase alloy radiators is http://www.re-amemiya.co.jp/. I\'m shure, there are many shops in the UK, wich can supply you a big radiotor for your RX-7.
I\'m not from the UK, so I can not tell you where to change the radiator.  But someone here on forum will help, I think. Here in Germany I make everything by myself. To replace radiator takes about 1 to 3 hours depending on the radiator.
