I seem to recall that Norton had a problem with the rotor housings cracking at the spart plug holes which proved to be a weak spot on the water cooled version of their engine. Maybe they had the same problem with the NSUs and decided to eliminate the problem by having no plugs and therefore no plug holes??

Eamon did not use spark plugs but did use glow plugs instead.It was more a case of not finding a plug that could take it than the hole in the housing.
