Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Next Event - JAE 24th & 25th July
« on: July 11, 2004, 05:25:29 PM »
2004 will mark the 11th outing of the Japanese Auto-Extravaganza at Billing Aquadrome with over 65 clubs expected to attend.

MRC has already booked a 120 car stand for both days to accommodate ALL members of MRC, FDUK and the RX-7 Owners Club.

Please contact Clive or Lisa on 01474 333099 or contact if you are attending in order to cater for the number of people staying for the bar-b-que.

Unfortunately due to Premier Lodge’s change of policy, there is now a minimum charge of 3 night stay if you wish to book at the Premier Lodge at the entrance to Billing Aquadome in July.

In view of this has managed to secure rooms at the Travel Inn, Northampton East. There are currently 9 rooms still available booked under MRC. Please quote ref: ROR36119, telephone no: 08701 977 196. Final date for booking a room is 17th July, any rooms still available after this date will be released back to the hotel.

Junction 15 off the M1, which is a 10 minute drive to Billing Aquadrome for the Saturday night the 24th July, in order that you can stay the whole weekend. Rooms cost approx £50.00 per night (for 2 people). All rooms are twin non smoking. Please note that should you book one of the rooms and then not turn up you will be liable for the full cost of that room. Please give 72 hours cancellation notice if you are cancelling your booking.

For those of you who have attended in previous years the formula for this year will be much the same as last year except that we envisage an attendance of some 2500 cars; a relaxing weekend in the sun (we hope), chilling out and enjoying all the cars and visiting the many trade stands. This year an extra field has been booked and will be used mostly as the camping area and this year’s show area has been increased to two full fields.

Billing Aquadrome has an extensive range of leisure facilities, including jet ski lake, fishing, licensed bars offering tempting meals and a variety of entertainment.

Also within the park complex there is a funfair, including a large selection of children\'s amusements, eat in and take out food facilities, caravan and camping accessory shop, laundrette, and a host of other facilities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

By the entrance to the Park there is a petrol filling station.

Touring Pitches
All touring pitches are on level parkland with over 400 electrical hook up points. In addition to this all pitches are within easy reach of fully equipped toilet blocks, disposal points, and free showers. We have certain areas reserved for disabled customers where they will find their own toilet and shower facilities.

Hi All

Just a reminder that if anyone still requires a pass to get onto the club stand at Santa Pod this coming Sunday, please e-mail me giving me your full name and address this evening is possible.

The passes will be sent out 2nd class, so if there any late requests, I can not guarantee that you will receive them in time.

Richard is right, any normal garage with the equipment to fill AirCon should be able to undertake this job O/K.

Do not forget if you want a pass to park on the MRC stand on Sunday 20th June ONLY , please e-mail me:- with your FULL NAME AND ADDRESS (not user names) in order to get these posted out to you in time.

What\'s at Santa Pod:-

RWYB - £12 for 3 runs down the strip Remember all cars need to be road legal with MOT and Driving Licence (Both need to be brought with you)

And there is a twist to this tale, Santa Pod have adjusted the rules to accommodate us Subaru’s.

“New Rules”

The new classes are as follows:

A Nissan/Datsun
B Toyota/Lexus
C Honda/Acura
D Mitsubishi/Proton
E Subaru
F Mazda
G Suzuki/Daihatsu/Isuzu
X All other vehicles and non-road legal

No prizes will be made available for category X, and please note that no track time will be made available for motorcycles.

Due to the ever-increasing levels of competitiveness in Run What Ya Brung competitions at Santa Pod, new guidelines have been introduced that show acceptable modifications. All Run What Ya Brung competitions are designed to cater mainly for road-legal cars. However, allowances have been made for some popular modifications that would not normally be deemed road-legal. Although some people say nitrous oxide is cheating in a road car, we say it’s fun, so if you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Modifications from “road-legal” that are acceptable:

• Removal of headlight to improve air induction
• Nitrous oxide injection is permitted
• Removal of wing mirrors, number plates and windscreen wipers is also acceptable

• Your car must have DOT approved tyres with acceptable levels of tread!
• Apart from the above modifications, your car must be MOT-worthy.
• All drivers must produce a valid driving licence to sign-on.

We have booked a 60 car stand for the SUNDAY ONLY. However, if lots of people wish to attend on Saturday, we will, if someone would like to take the club gazebo up for us have a Club stand there on the Saturday as well, as myself and Clive are unable to attend on that day.
