General Technical / Help with idle drop please!
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:02:42 PM »
Hi, the FD has just developed a new fault, when coming to junction or very slow gear change when cold, the revs drop off and engine will stop, however when the car is warm the revs drop down/dip to about 200rpm and then jump up to about 850rpm nom idle, and because warm the engine does not stall and survives the rev drop for a split second, (if that makes sence)??
any ideas where to start please?:Thumbs-up
Cheers Paul

« on: September 15, 2009, 03:13:49 PM »
After aloooong and cold day at Silverstone on Sunday, It was good to see the Lola Mazda come in on podium after 186 Laps in 5.30 hrs!. Great day out nothing beats a rolling start with 40 cars, lights on tearing down the straight, the noise from the Astons and Corvettes was amazing. I\'ll get some pics up later.

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Great trackday at Goodwood but..
« on: February 21, 2009, 07:28:01 PM »
managed to smash the rear quarter and bumper and light, just as I thought i was getting the hang of things, lapped a couple of cars after a day of being overtaken due to lack of skills, I overcooked the \'chicane\' span a few times and ended up in the tyre wall. DOH.:2Rolleyes
Time for a new rear bumper and light.
I get some pics together later.

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Owning An RX7 Never been so cheap!
« on: December 07, 2008, 09:31:47 AM »
Just looking back through some old paperwork only to find a few suprises really, old prices compared to new!
For eg  Turbo ll exhaust  I paid £650 and prob pluss delivery
Tll clutch about £500 fitted
pullys Tll about £100
FD gearbox 2nd hand £500

Theres lots more but those Items were many years ago the Tll exhaust was
nearly TEN years ago, so if you add all the increases how much \'could\' it all cost now! But it doesn\'t prices are half or two thids of the above?
I guess alot of cars being broken has kept prices competition in order but i think you can see where I\'m coming from? (or am I convincing myself its cheaper with Xmas coming and 3 kids??:Party

General Technical / 98 db req.ideas please?
« on: October 12, 2008, 01:50:27 PM »
As above really, how can I get 98db Exhaust must be cheap!
Any idea what a stock system makes on a noise test ?
the car is stock twins, stock downpipe, R-magic large bore back from there.
Ive got a bung at the minute and make 104-5 db so maybe a stock box on the back would do?. Not overally worried about power loss within reason as I need to practice corners at a local track, and not do my usual go -stop -go corners:rolleyes:
Ant ideas guys
Cheers

Just got back from London after a chat with the Mazda guys. The Furai was there in all its glory looking great but  "The clutch had failed after the steep
hill climb run at Goodwood, " The car which is a first concept car, was only ment to do around 250 miles and NOT the 4k it has on the clock !.
The car WILL however be repaired for the Stig to \'Test\' drive for the next Series of Top Gear and \'they were dissapointed\' it had failed and are looking forward to the \'Stig\' getting at the car !

Following this I won a competition and got a ride in the RX8 \'Drift car\' top day out...
