MRC News / Pro drive going racing with Mazda

Hi All,

l know this is elsewhere on the forum ,but this is the official press release issued to the club ,

My personal opinion is that this looks like two things Prodrive will be preparing the Formula Woman fleet and also it leaves the door nicely open for some real involvement in Motor sport , from memory the Gen 1 RX-7 was kicked out of the British Touring Car Championships for only having 2 doors so maybe the RX-8 is allowed  ???????

l would just like to thank Glenn ( for creating it ) and all the people who have posted on the forum for making it the success it now is .
 
As of today we now have 500 members in 8 months and a Damn good Forum !!.

l have a member who wants to fit 17\'\' wheels to his Gen 2 and  has asked me to find out what offset and size tyres he needs  ??

Hi All went to Brands for the champ car meeting and found an
 RX-8!

Got a look underneith and found the suspension looks very 3rd Gen RX-7 front and rear except for where the rear coil-over shock mounts off the rear hub instead of the top wishbone.  

There are pics of the rear if you scroll down.

Official press release from the Mazda U/K monthly round-up/ update  via your club today,

28th February saw the Mazda RX-8 advance order web site , http://www.mazdaRX8.co.uk
go live , where customers who want to be the first in the queue for the unique rotary sports car
can pay a deposit of £1000.
ln the first WEEK the site saw 360 customers place a deposit , there will be ONLY 3,500 RX-8 vehicles available to U/K customers during 2003

To put this in prospective there are only around 500 Gen 3 RX-7s on the road in the U/K .

3rd generation RX-7's / Manifold Gasket.

Hi All ,

Thought this may help somebody some time ,

l put a new inlet manifold Gasket on my 3rd Gen today and as many of you may know already pre 1995 cars only had a paper gasket which pops under any sort of extra boost being put into it .

So lf you change yours the 95 on part No is    N3A1-13-111C

Hi All,

The Gen1 has received a real good and accurate write up in Classic Car Weekly and has centre spread , Tim of RX Motors looks to have been heavily involved with this write up which would explain why it\'s a good one !

l am sure l have seen the car featured before though C729 CKL, anyone here ?

Hi All

Went to the Autosport show today in Birmingham today (on trade day ) to find not only the first RX-8 ever seen in Britain it apparently landed from Japan last night but also lucky to be at the launch of a new one make series for the RX-8 for woman that will form both a TV series and a competition to find the 16 woman that will take part see http://www.formulawoman.com or http://www.mazda.co.uk. the motorsport body in Britain hope that from this it will encourage more woman to be actively involved in motorsport as they used to be at Brooklands in the 1920s and 1930s.  

l was also lucky enough to be taken by a Mazda employee to an out building to see the Montego blue car in the flesh to have a good look in the dark! under condition l took NO pics, looks lower than the toy one l have become accustomed to seeing, it now has silver and not chrome wheels but at least the style is still the same it now has side repeater on the front radius of the arch where the bumper joins the wing, fortunately most of the Rotary symbols seem intact in the interior but the tail lights have lost their Rotary recognition.

l now also now know that only the higher horse power manual model will come to Europe  with the auto model only available in the USA and as of today you can apparently place your full order plus £1000 for your new RX-8.

Mike Rutherford in News of the World today said sources tell him that the RX-8 embarrasses just about every car in it\'s class for performance including the TT and the Alfa GTV and he predicts it could well be the car of the year 2003 .
