Old school Mazda's / where shall i get me apex seals?

right, im building a bridgeport motor and need apex seals (as im sure Era knows . I want to go single peice, but as carbon and steel are roughly the same price, which should i go for? i want some decent revs, but its also gotta be streetable!
Where does everyone get em? I was looking at mazdatrix.....

What counterweights do i need? Do i stick with the ones from the EGi engine rather than the turbo II ones? it makes sense to me.....

Hi guys, you might wanna make this one a sticky...

Some guys in Oz decided it was a good idea to launch a site for Rotary enthusiasts, with freely downloadable (eventually) and free-streaming rotary related videos including how to rebuild a rotary engine and other information such as popular conversions and tuning a rotary.

The good news is that they have started! The even better news is that they want input as to what other guides you guys want to see up there....

Old school Mazda's / Sidedraft carb woes

Right i have a problem with my intended carb setup on a 13B. Basically I have the racing beat upper inlet manifold and dellorto 48 carb, but i do not have the 4 port lower.
I am struggling to find one (at the right price) but i have a few stock 6 port lowers that i could use.

Are these the same fitting, just with mismatched front and rear ports? In which case will the 4 port engine run for now on the lower 6 port manifold?

righty i have a second gen motor that i gotta keep cool......water is taken care of its oil im concerned about.
Now on the car as we speak i have a standard oil cooler fitted, but because of its size and shape its not cooling well...

so despiute a lot of what im sure is good advice i went out and bought this:

its a 50 row setrab oil cooler. Now this is one of the biggest oil coolers you can buy and is certainly bigger than any available in aftermarket oil cooler kits. What does everyone think? Will it keep a 13b NA cool?

Second off, as for oil lines and fittings, do they need to be made of will some oil line with the correct fittings jubilee-clipped onto them be ok? who makes up oil lines like this?

Carb is set up for a 13b, has the upper manifold (will fit both 6 and 4 port lowers) and i can probably find you a filter and some linkage for a little extra.

THE BEST conversion...apparently.

hi guys,

Ive just started to strip down the series 5 turbo 2 motor im planning on fitting into the bug.
I thought it would be a good idea to try and document the happenings during the engine rebuild so i will be getting some pictures of it all shortly. I am by no means an expert but am willing to learn and figure it would be an excellent way of trying to help others out if they are in a similar position: to rebuild or to buy reconditioned.
Its on the workshop bench as we speak and is now in a state that i would consider ready for parts collection and rebuild.
jitesh (one2watch) and I have followed the engine from the point at which it was dropped from the car to the stage at which we are at as we speak. I thank him for his help and correspondence throughout.
Right...so the questions. Having removed all of the parts, i discovered not one, not two, but THREE broken corner seals. What is likely to be the cause of this? Most of the parts seemed to be present (no little peices \'missing\') and thus i hoped the intermediate and end housings would eb OK. As it happens i beleive the end housing is screwed (picture to follow) as there is some scoring to it. how much is allowable?
Further to this there is a slight amount of pitting on the intermediate housing which is very fine....but is it acceptable?
One rotor housing seems good.....no scoring, no serious chrome recession...the other has some scoring and more considerable chrome recession (again not considerable though) what is acceptable here? how much should i pay for a decent second hand one?
I also beleive that the irons may have been ported. Looking at the end irons there is a small \'ground\' edge around the inlet and the edge is not exactly straight from the leading edge of the port to the trailing. Pictures to follow.
What about wall thicknesses? What coolant all thicknesses would you consider to be acceptable? The do vary on these irons but it doesnt seem too considerable...what are the specs?
 Are 13b REW irons the same as turbo 2 irons? and indeed housings? do they differ?
How much can be taken from the motor with buffing the irons? How do you copensate in terms of latteral play?

right, im going to be rebuilding a Turbo II soon and want to make it into a bit of a screemer....its to go in the beetle so low down torque isnt essential but i think 300BHP would scream in a bug

the stock turbo is fooked so what are my options here? anyone got a stocker for sale? other options are in To4 and a gt35 turbo, ive seen the XS power T04s go for about £300! (i take it i get what i pay for)

I would probably try and find a microtech, is the lt12 much better than the lt10 and lt8?

What injectors? change the secondaries to 1000CC?

Any performance advice would rock!

what sort of play is acceptable on the compresor side of the turbo on a series 5 turbo II? Ive got noticeable play and if its not worth it then ill chuch it or rebuild it... im talking about up/down shaft movement

i havent fitted it.....But my plans for a turbo motor instead have lead to the shelving of this beasty carb and thus my thoughts of sale......
If anyone would be interested it will bolt staight onto the lower manifold of all 13bs (4 port or 6port) using the standard lower intake runners.
It has a brand new air filter and filter oil.
Current jet sizes are
230 mains,
7772.8 emulsion tubes
230 air correctors
90 pump jets
7850.4 idle jets
