2nd generation RX-7's / Unwelcome attention?

Do any of you guys get more unwelcome attention in your FCs than in other cars?  I certainly do.  Had a guy in a Honda Accord estate barrelling round a roundabout after me. I mean his lights disappeared in the rear view then he kept coming another foot :Grrr

Then a kid in a VTi Civic was buzzing all around the car two nights ago wanting a race...

howzit :)

get used to it, its a rotary thing,
i had every tom dick and harry try and race me in my series 4 turbo, and most of them didnt even have half the horsepower but for some reason they thought they could win and after wheel spinning past them and away from them they come back for seconds, go figure :)
you should go to auckland/nz and drive around there in a rx, it would drive you bonkers :)
best thing is to ignore and save it for the track :) as it will cost you alot of fuel to keep showing them up

2nd generation RX-7's / turbo to buy

Hi

I currently have a turbo 2 cab and am looking to upgrade the turbo and intercooler.  I want to push around 300bhp, any ideas of which turbo and intercooler to buy to increase my bhp?

Cheers

Leigh

howzit :)

another option is get a T04 compressor housing backing plate and wheel fitted to your S5 turbo, then you dont have to change anything on the exhaust side, maybe get the internal wastegate enlarged, get a bosch upgrade fuel pump and fuel regulator, modify your secondary fuel rail ie remove factory fuel pressure regulator, get a chipped factory e.c.u which will increase fuel and remove fuel cut but downside is most or all remove rev limiter  :( or you can get 12A turbo injectors and fit to secondary rail but you need voltage heat resistor thing as the 12A turbo injectors are only 5-6V that way you will have enough fuel for a good 1 bar, there are front mount intercoolers which arent too pricey, this will make a very fun car and not cost the earth :)

you will be suprised how much you can gain without wasting money, but if you want big horsepower later then i would go down the route of complete t04 turbo new manifold and wastegate etc

2nd generation RX-7's / limited slip diff
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:48:41 AM »
howzit :)

series 5 rx7 FC only have a viscous lsd or single spinner, the viscous lsd isnt any good.
the series 4 FC had a clutch type lsd which you could tell by jacking up or looking at the L.S.D tab on the oil filler bung

1st generation RX-7's / Supercharging a rotary
« on: January 10, 2008, 12:06:42 PM »
just another one for you :)
it has a 1000CFM throttle body, a 4-71 GMC blower on a 13B Monster J-Port

i love blowers :)

the best blower is the screw type the rail drag racers use as the GMC can beat the air and heat it up to much

General Technical / FC turbo 2 boost problem
« on: May 22, 2007, 09:46:57 PM »
howzit :)

check your oil level too :)

the pipes to check would be firstly your intake pipes to the turbo from the airflow meter to the front of turbo they usually crack next to the turbo, because its airflow metered they run crap
then check the rubber hose coming from the outlet of the turbo snail to the plastic or alloy (depending on series ie 4/5) then check the rubber hose on the other side of join to the intercooler

usually the intake pipe is crack or the outlet rubber hose or the pipe to intercooler blows off

hope helps
let know what you find :)

after asking a couple rotary shops and loads of people with no luck :(

so if your looking for the seals see wgt

also the FC injectors fit perfect with the seals

General Technical / extra injector holders, what injectors fit ?
« on: May 17, 2007, 06:24:14 PM »
howzit :)

i think the injector holders are the greddy style holders with the 3 screws and the top plate

i have FC series 5 turbo injectors, factory they have a thick squareish oring on the pintle cover at bottom of injector and the 2 seals for the fuel rail,

the injector holders, completely cover the injector so you cant use the standard pintle seal, the rail seals you can just use standard ones as the rail is the same style, the injector is completely covered so im thinking you need a seal for the exterior to stop air getting into or outta the injector holder

so if i have it correct where do i buy the seals only ?

many thanks

im dont know as i got a second hand inlet manifold with the injector holders in it, with no injectors

so am i getting this right there is a oring that goes around the exterior of the injector and sits in the recess of the holder then the crew plate goes on ?

if so do you know where to get the orings? are they a square oring ?

much appreciated

thanks

General Technical / Help please, engine died and won\'t start!
« on: May 13, 2007, 05:59:21 PM »
howzit :)

you can get at the plugs from up top without removing anything, its tricky but can be done :) or it is easier from below

usually they dont start with wet[fuel] plugs even with towing :(

best bet to remove plugs and disconnect the spark from the little silver box on side of guard next to abs and crank engine over then reconnect silver box put clean plugs in and try and start :)

or remove the EGI fuse next to battery crank over with foot flat on pedal for a bit them put fuse back in and try and start

hope helps
