I agree with whats said.
The RX should not be tuned, cat back and maybe induction kit (the stock air box with a K&N filter is meant to be best without going and spending lots of ££££) at most.
With the mods you have I would strongly advise you get an Apexi fitted and mapped asap, that way you will get improved performance safely. When the car gets mapped you will find out if other things should be looked at to keep the car running sweet for the long term.

Ls does sound sweet, but cant bring meself to do it:o  Have other ideas atm but need to see if anyone might want a ready made 500+ engine

Sorry to be dumb but in the 3 or 4 years I have been on this site I have never heard the term "Ls"
Once I am told I might want to delete this thread for being dumb but until then I would like an answer.

The car can cost very little each year (outwith fuel). About £100-200. It\'s when things start going wrong, Turbo, suspension, diff, brakes, gear box etc etc that the bills can get very high (I once had a bill for £800 and the car was still not fixed!!)
The main cost is modding it, wheather its wheels, stereo, performance most owners do something.

You could easily get an RX7 then put it back to standard. Most owners only change the exhaust and air filter. Type R, RB RZ etc performance is all about the same. The RZ is lighter so marginally faster but they all have the same power plant so in the real world you\'d never know the difference.
Have a search on the site for model guide to the RX7 and very comprehensive write up was done a few years ago.

If this will be your first performance car then take it easy, its a very fast and amazing car, when other change gear at 6000rpm you keep going to 9000 and that is seriously sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

I think the rear of that car looks amazing. I\'m actually a big fan of that car. Far nicer than FEED\'s new one (bodykit I like but the lights look rotten imo)

I\'ll try and aswer one or two q\'s you have.
#2 The temp guage is crap if it goes above half way stop at once and let the car cool down. If it has gone above half way the fingers crossed the engines not buggered. If it constantly sits just at the half way then that is not an indication all is weel but its an indcation that all is not bad (if you get what I mean) an aftermarket water temp guage is the best bet.

#3 Stock oil pressure guage is crap. Best fit an aftermarket one again. You don\'t HAVE TOO but the stock one is no use really.

#4 My car poped all the time with no ill effects, it might be that the car is running rich and there is too much unburned fuel. My car was mapped and popped all the time even at very low second into third gear speeds.

save up some money and have the car checked over by an RX specialist. It will be money well spent.

You know you have a rex when you spend over £800 on your car and its still not working properly but you don\'t care as the buzz you get booting it up is amazing!

You know you USED TO HAVE A REX when you have never been in another car you liked so much and wish you still had it!!!

I was the same, mine would stick approx 3.5K rpm. I bought a second hand one from Jimmys for about £60-70 and it was sorted.

3rd generation RX-7's / Looking for FD owners Aberdeenshire

Head into Checkpoint in Aberdeen. Dave has a very nice wide FD. Other than Dave I know of two other FD\'s. A white RE:Amemiya kitted one (female driver and member of mrc) and the red FD you saw that I don\'t know who the driver is.
Does your car have Mazdaspeed MS-02\'s? I think I saw you at the cinema once and also in Bridge of Don going to Wallace performance.

Unfortuanatly I no longer have a FD I sold it last year. Still in a feeling of loss as I had done a lot to the car.

Also, Im thinking of coming back to the FD but I am interested to see whats out there. There are none really that suit me in the private sales section so anyone point me in the direction of FD\'s in Japan (ie access to an auction site to see whats going through) any other help with be appreciated.

I\'ve been a year without an FD and I miss it soooooooooo much!!!

Congratulations on your new car. Hope it brings loads of smiles.
Very normal to get excited about looking at RX\'s.

Bodykits really depend on the quality of them. Veildside is not to everyones taste but I hear they are good quality but I know they are expensive for genuine stuff. Veildside style bodykits will vary in quality leading to more time required to fit them, and obviously the end result might be effected by a poor quality bodykit. I\'m sure someone else can help you out that has been through this recently.

Your car looks to have a good spec to it. I would mention that personally I would invest in an Apexi PFC and get it mapped asap as those mods running on UK fuel (you should only use 98/99 ron fuel, v-power etc) will probably mean the car will run lean and that aint good. An Apexi PFC fitted and mapped could be about £600ish pounds but well worth it. Also get the car fully checked over once it lnds by an RX specialist.
I\'ve maybe gone on a bit now but hopefully it will help.
